Pat Sloan: Kerry Goulder, Jessica Alexandrakis, Susan Beal, and Jera Brandvig Chat with Pat

American Patchwork and Quilting Pocast Susan Beal Dec 2014

I was hooked by the title, Hand-Stitched Home. That seems to embody what so many of us feel about making things for our family, friends, and our home.  Susan Beal is the author, and she writes at West Coast Crafty about all kinds of amazing topics. The fun thing about Susan's book is that it uses wool fabric in unique ways!

American Patchwork and Quilting Pocast Kerry Goulder Dec 2014

Kerry Goulder like many of us, has sewn since she was little, starting with clothes for her dolls.  She has taken that creative energy and developed patterns, techniques and written books on making everything from quilts to dolls. Today I'm delighted to chat with her about Doll making and her lates book 'Sewing Tales'. I used to make dolls and it is so magical. My great grandmother and great aunt used to give me hand made Barbie clothing, all packaged like they were bought from a store! I remember the magical moments of opening those gifts and I can't wait to talk with Kerry about dolls.

Her friend is the super delightful and talented Jessica Alexandrakis who writes at Life Under Quilts.. that name alone is enough to make me jump online to see what she is about! Jessica believes we can all Quilt on the go, and I agree! Today we talk about what you can accomplish on the go and how to make it happen, plus she has a book about it 'Quilting on the Go'.

Pat Sloan: Bob Shaw, Virginia Lindsay, Sujata Shah and Nancy Mahoney Chat with Pat

American Patchwork and Quilting Pocast Bob Shaw Dec 2014

Antique quilts are the core of our heritage. I am always drawn to them and follow (or stalk) the curators, dealers and authors who write about antique quilts. Bob Shaw is a noted scholar, curator, and lecturer who has written several comprehensive books about quilts, some new and some antique. Such as Art Quilts: A Celebration, The Art Quilt, Hawaiian Quilt Masterpieces and American Quilts: The Democratic Art. His newest book is upgraded version of the American Quilts book, which has been out of print. I'm super excited to talk to Bob about this book.
