As a journalist and author, Lisa Barr could embody that song about looking at life from both sides now.
In fact, she likes to say she's "covered everything from terrorism to cleavage." She reported on the famous Yitzhak Rabin-Yasser Arafat handshake, profiled Rabin's widow, Leah, for Vogue and launched women's and lifestyle sections at the Chicago Sun-Times. She's been an editor at Moment magazine and the Jerusalem Post, and written about sex and relationships.
The Deerfield author-blogger-mommy continues the two-pronged professional existence this summer: She has published a novel called "Fugitive Colors" that takes a suspenseful fictionalized look at a little-known part of Holocaust-related history, and she has just launched a blog, "GIRLilla Warfare: A Mom's Guide to Surviving the Suburban Jungle," in which Barr takes on such subjects as mean girls, body image, the merits of "Fifty Shades of Gray," divorce and finding time alone with your husband.
All that and she's raising three teen daughters.
