"The Family Crews" Star Rebecca Crews

Live On Air Friday July 8th!!!

Rebecca King Crews was born to an interracial couple in Benton Harbor, Michigan and was raised in Gary, Indiana where she graduated from Lew Wallace High School with honors. She was crowned Miss Gary 1984 and went on to study Musical Theatre at Western Michigan University. Throughout high school and college, Rebecca appeared in various musical theatre productions. "The Wiz", "Oklahoma", "Pippin", "The Music Man", "Evita" and others, and finally starred as 'Deena' in a regional production of "Dreamgirls". She also performed with, and directed, her own Gospel singing group "The Chosen Ones".

While at Western Michigan, she met and married her husband Terry Crews. He was an art major and a football player. Rebecca served as the music director of her local church.  Terry walked into service one Wednesday night and the two began dating. They were married a year later. Terry was drafted into the NFL in 1991, with the Los Angeles Rams and went on to play with seven different teams. He eventually moved to Hollywood to pursue an entertainment career. Terry began acting on a TV show called "Battledome" and eventually starred in several films - "White Chicks", "The Longest Yard", and many, many others. His current hits are “Are We There Yet”, ‘The Family Crews” and his popular re-runs of “Everybody Hates Chris”! His career made a way for Rebecca to stay home and raise her children and then to eventually pursue her own acting and music career, as well as her own public speaking and charity work. They have been married for 22 years and have five children, ages 24 to 5. They are also proud grandparents to baby Miley Hernandez, their oldest daughter’s baby girl with husband Jorge Hernandez.

Rebecca and her family currently star in the BET Hit Reality Series “THE FAMILY CREWS” -  now in it’s second season! Rebecca, along with her husband Terry, were featured on “106 & Park”, “The Wendy Williams Show”, “KTLA Morning Show” and “The Monique Show” on BET!  Rebecca has also been featured in both ‘Today’s Black Woman” and “Heart and Soul’ Magazines and she is a frequently as a speaker, encourager and motivator for young women and older women alike, She was the oath presenter at this year’s “Uniquely You Summit” in Philadelphia and was honored to present awards at both the NAACP Theatre Awards, and The American Heart Association Campaign to End Stroke. A strong advocate for women’s issues, Rebecca often addresses issues of health and wellness, spiritual and moral responsibility, and also speaks at churches and youth conventions across the country.
