Friday, June 15th, at 10am EST, on Parent Talk, we have two great guests lined up for you!
Author Mark Merrill is the founder and president of Family First, a widely respected national non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening the family. Mark hosts the Family Minute with Mark Merrill, a national daily radio program, and speaks at major conferences and events. Before founding Family First in 1991, Mark practiced law in Florida for seven years. His new book, All Pro Dad: Seven Essentials to Be a Hero to Your Kids (Thomas Nelson), launches into Father’s Day.
“Fifteen years ago my good friend, Mark Merrill and I started the All Pro Dad team,” said Dungy, Super Bowl-winning coach, analyst for NBC’s Football Night in America, and co-founder of All Pro Dad alongside Merrill. “We were trying to come up with a way to inspire men to become better fathers. Now, Mark has written a super practical playbook on the fundamentals of fatherhood. This book not only highlights these fundamentals, but also gives dads a winning game plan to do their most important job well.”
“All kids need a loving dad, but they long for a hero to lead them,” said Merrill. “This book helps to meet that need and longing. At All Pro Dad, we also know that social media plays a key role in today’s family communications, so it was important for us to utilize our ongoing communications with Dads across the country to build up the excitement for this new book with these contests and to help get the word out to moms for Father’s Day.”
In the iMOM Pin it to Win it Father’s Day Pinterest contest, to enter participants must follow hhgregg on Pinterest, create an All Pro Dad pin board putting a picture of the All Pro Dad book as the cover, and fill up the board with things that celebrate the dad in their lives. There will be 1 winner of a Weber grill, provided by hhgregg, awarded on June 17th, and 17 winners of the All Pro Dad book and “
Get in the Game” All Pro Dad book t-shirt given away every day now through June 17. Merrill has received multiple endorsements for this new book, including endorsements from talk-show host Dave Ramsey; James “J.B.” Brown of CBS; Grammy award winner, Michael W. Smith; Michael Ducker, COO and President, International, FedEx Express; S. Truett Cathy, founder and CEO of Chick-fil-A, Inc.; Wayne Huizenga, Jr., chairman, Rybovich Marina and part owner of the Miami Dolphins; Mark Dominik, General Manager, Tampa Bay Buccaneers; Mark Richt, head coach, University of Georgia; Danny Wuerffel, former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner; and several others. Next up, Marybeth Whalen with her newest release, The Guest Book.
When Macy Dillon was five years old her father encouraged her to draw a picture in the guestbook of a Carolina beach house. The next year, Macy returned to discover a drawing by an unidentified little boy on the facing page. Over the next eleven years the children continue to exchange drawings ... until tragedy ends visits to the beach house altogether. During her final trip to Sunset, Macy asks her anonymous friend to draw her one last picture and tells him where to hide the guest book in hopes that one day she will return to find it---and him. Twenty-five years after that first picture, Macy is back at Sunset Beach---this time toting a broken family and a hurting heart. One night, alone by the ocean, Macy asks God to help her find the boy she never forgot, the one whose beautiful pictures touched something deep inside of her. Will she ever find him? And if she does, will the guestbook unite them or merely be the relic of a lost childhood?
Join me and Marybeth as we chat about the past, about the effects of tragedy, and how The Guest Book will be your favorite summer read.
