Nigel Jackson

Whether it's discussing the winners at this year's Grammy Awards, or catching up on current films, I absolutely LOVE pop culture. Originally from Winnipeg, Manitoba, I lived in Montreal for 3 years and have finally settled in the Tdot. "Voulez-vous couchez avec moi?" aaaaaaaaand that was a joke...lol. I'm just trying to make sure I don't get rusty on my 2nd of 3 known languages; the third is Spanish. I'm very outgoing, sociable, and am always trying to make people laugh. I love meeting and chatting with new people. My favorite movies include: American Beauty and Transformers (don't judge lol) and my current playlist includes: Alicia Keys, AeroSmith and Drizzy Drake. Tune in to hear me if you're in for some soothing words, or a god laugh...Hasta luego! J

Rose Zivic - "Reality Radio - Live from your Kitchen Table"

Hello - I am one of the average Joe's, or should we say, ‘Josephines"of modern society. Sometimes I look at things and wonder: "What happened to common sense"? So if have ever found yourself in a situation where you yell, "COME ON GET REAL" at your TV or your radio - or maybe even a mom from the PTA! Then follow me, and tune into: REALITY RADIO - LIVE FROM YOUR KITCHEN TABLE. Cause let's face it, all the important decisions in life make their way around the kitchen table! And when you think of it, the table in the corporate boardroom is really just a giant kitchen table anyway! This is Reality Radio ... and it doesn't get anymore REAL than this. I could state my jobs, passions and hobbys, but seriously - that would be boring!

Kristen J.

Dena Sherwood

Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation

Thee-year-old Billy Sherwood Jr. has learned a lot of tough lessons in his young life. Diagnosed with neuroblastoma, a solid tumor cancer that arises in immature nerve cells, at 13 months, the New Jersey boy has already confronted physical and emotional challenges that many adults can't imagine. It is his indefatigable smile, in the face of this tough fight, that has inspired his family to advocate for children around the country with neuroblastoma.

"As our journey began," Dena says, "I learned of so many stories, and saw so much need. In my heart I knew I had to do something to help these children and families." In August 2009, Billy's parents, Dena and Billy Sherwood, founded Arms Wide Open Childhood Cancer Foundation, a 501 (c) nonprofit organization, with the mission of funding treatment for neuroblastoma and, ultimately, to find a cure for the disease. "I knew that I had to do everything humanly possible to save my son's life as well as those around us who were suffering," Dena says. " My goal was to bring hope and light to a very dark place."

Despite the obvious challenge of raising these funds and growing the foundation while managing Billy's treatment, the family remains committed to making a difference in the lives of children and families with neuroblastoma. "I find giving the most rewarding thing," Dena says. "I know that by raising awareness, the funding will come."

And awareness is much needed: because only approximately 650 children are diagnosed with disease each year, neuroblastoma is considered an "orphan" cancer and receives little funding. "I had not heard of neuroblastoma until Billy was diagnosed," Dena says. "How can we expect to fund treatment for a cancer that no one has heard of?"

It's Dena's hope that the work of the foundation can bring awareness and support for the children and families who face the disease, and she feels blessed to be able to work on their behalf. "The children, because of their young age, don't have a voice, and most of their parents are so deep in the trenches-trying to wrap their heads around the fact that their children have been diagnosed with cancer; trying to juggle work and their other children; and trying to adapt to what I call ‘crazy cancer world'-that they cannot even begin to think about advocating for the funding that is so desperately needed in order for these children to survive."

At the end of the day, Dena need only look at Billy Jr. to get the inspiration she personally needs to go on. And the three-year-old himself knows the value of his mom's work: When a neighbor asked him recently why his mom was bald when Dena shaved her head to raise awareness for Childhood Cancer Awareness Month in September, the little boy didn't hesitate: "My mom shaved her head so no more kids get cancer."

Dominique Smith

Dominique M. Smith was born and raised in Baton Rouge LA.  At a young age he developed a love for music and singing.  It wasn't until his senior year of high school that he was bitten with the acting Dominique.  Dominique went on to perform locally at many different theater companies.  It was not until he prepared to audition for a play entitled "Radio Golf" by August Wilson that Dominique's love for commentating came to the forefront.

Dominique then went on to create his own show, the D. Martez Show and his own website.  The D. Martez Show is an online blog show where Dominique expresses what many people have called, his "gift of gab."  Dominique states that his show is informational, inspirational, and full of laughter.  Dominique has no formal training in the radio business but he wants the opportunity to step into radio.  Dominique plans to widen his listening audience and take the D. Ryan Spain

Ryan broke into the business as a traffic reporter. Radio listeners heard Ryan on several top 40, news, and easy listening stations. This opportunity led him to a brief stint as a DJ/Radio personality for one of Connecticut's most popular adult contemporary stations.

He currently hosts a reality show. A statewide search was launched to find the next TV personality in Connecticut. As the spokesperson for the contest he's in a series of commercials, corresponding from the auditions, and appearing in a series of web videos.

Singing and acting are two passions he actively pursues. Perhaps the biggest moment in his music career was when Ryan sang a duet with music legend, Stevie Wonder at Foxwoods MGM. Now when people ask Ryan where he learned how to sing he can say, Stevie Wonder. In fact, the last person who called Ryan good looking was Stevie - there's a joke there, you get it?! (Ryan's wit is what gets him through many situations) He even performed on MTV once! You can find him dabbling in community theater, spending time in the recording studio, and posting his work on YouTube.

Jonathan Francois

Hi. I'm Jon Francois. Here's some information to skim through or care less about: I'm from West Hartford, CT and I graduated in the Class of 2009 at Hall High School. I was very active in the school's theater department as an actor in various productions as well as an occassional writer for "Hall Highlights", the school newspaper. I had a good thing going with acting so I thought "why not try it in college?". I became an acting major at the University Of The Arts in Philadelphia and, as you would guess, withdrew from the school a year and a half later. It just didn't work out. I've been taking time off for the past few months evaluating my desires and ambitions and the search pointed me towards broadcast communications. My maturity can be best explained through interviewing and performing scenes with talking lifeless objects on West Hartford Community Television. By saying that I write the material myself, I've already sweetened your opinion of me. To make a short story even shorter, I'm currently trying to get back to school in Connecticut to study broadcasting and am very honored to be a part of this contest. As we speak, my hand is holding up space representing a "cheers" glass of champagne. See you soon!

Anthony Pelliccio

Anthony Pelliccio is a not-so-well known satirist. He used to operate a website called Newsofthisworld.com, which poked fun at current events. He is now in sales.

 Sondra Pummill

Sondra Pummill is a woman who lives on The Central Coast of California and has something to say! Far from ordinary, she has pursued dance and art, and graduated with a BA in Psychology. Sondra became interested in Politics and Social Injustices while in college, when she found out that most of what had been taught in her U.S. History classes, had been one-sided and that prior Presidents of The United States had told lies to the public through the media. In her Political Science classes, Sondra was exposed to the brutal truth that there is a lot of corruption in politics, and that many citizens do not vote. Not only this, but also philosophies of how human nature can operate. She became passionate about advocating for women not being used as objects in her culture, and began to associate the media with the way many people view themselves. Driven by her strong voice for peace, truth, and justice, Sondra began trying to influence friends. Sondra Pummill has heard of hardships from her female friends and even from strangers; voices who may not ever be able to speak in front of a live audience to tell of their nightmares. Sondra believes that it can take a while and a lot of research to get to the truth on issues, but is willing to do her part in finding some of this information. She believes people can overcome any kind of trial or suffering and has much faith in God. Some of the causes Sondra advocates for are:

1) Ending abuse of all types against the target group of women and children
2) Exposing corruption, misconceptions, and lies in the media
3) Advocating for peace for humanity, yet upholding the right to be prepared for battle
4) Liberty for individuals to exist in love amongst one another in their communities
5) A change in the mentality of pop-culture---away from the money, crotches, and killing, and onto some REAL music and lyrics
6) Freedom of Speech and the willingness of citizens to seek truth and talk about issues

Rick Oberuc

When I was 12, I wanted to be a DJ. So I asked my mom to drive me to my favorite radio station (which was literally down the road as we lived in scenic Blairstown, NJ at the time). And we stopped in and I told my favorite DJ my dream that I wanted to be a DJ. And the DJ kind of looked at me and said, "Kid, study hard in school and find a better paying job than being a DJ." I was kind of puzzled by this advice because I thought being a DJ was the best job in the world... Getting paid to play songs people want to hear and getting to listen to music all day. How could this be so bad? So I studied hard in school so I could get a better job. And I have been very lucky and worked some dream jobs. To date I have been paid to help clean a candy factory and make candy (summer jobs at M&M Mars), paid to watch TV (college job at a television microwave relay company that distributed major networks from East and West coast through the Midwest), and play various forms of advanced video games for over 25 years (software engineering for a whole range of industries and applications). But the most fun I have ever had is when I used to DJ at college parties or been on the air live for college radio when I could find ways to fit it in. So I'm giving this a shot because I'd like to finally land that particular dream job. By the way when I was 5, I wanted to be an astronaut...oh, yeah. Not covered by what your website does. But if I figure out a way, I'd be willing to combine the two and broadcast from space.
