Wine, dining and bats!! What a great show tonight.  Guest Giovanni Balistreri shares the amazing history and story of the journey of picturesque Russian River Vineyards.  Ever mindful of its treasured past, the present owners Chris O'Neill, Barbara Sattler and Giovanni Balistreri have been meticulously renovating the estate, with the goal of transforming it into a modern-day archetype of an organic, sustainable and "green" winery.  As stewards of this beautiful and historic site, they share their passion for fine wine and commitment to maintain and enhance this extraordinary estate.  The vineyards include some of the very first Merlot vines ever planted in Sonoma County at a time when most of the agriculture in the area was devoted to apples and prunes, surrounded by a forest of Redwood trees.  Over time, the winery became famous for its bat launches.  Visitors to their restaurant, "Corks," have been treated to a spectacular show every evening from April through October.  Merlot, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Charbono, Zinfandel are some of Russian River Valley Vineyard's fine wines.  With a philosophy to eat well and drink well, this extraordinary estate is a wonderful "destination winery."
