And what if you’re trying to have to reduce the Easter candy intake? Or create candy-free Easter baskets? No worries! Sandy Fowler will share great ideas for fun and treats that satisfy kids of all ages (and their busy moms too!) Life doesn’t always go the way you expect. Sometimes it’s the little things; maybe the gift you bought was a bust or the kids kept bickering all through your family vacation, and sometimes it’s the really big things like realizing you’re on the wrong path in your life. Regardless of the circumstance, or how long it’s been going on, when life doesn’t meet your expectations things can feel bad – really bad. Today she’ll join us to talk about those expectation hangovers, discussing causes, cures and ways to find peace again. We’ll wrap things up with some fun, crafty ideas in Christmas Corner. Today's show contains a full hour of ideas, reflection and inspiration for moms. We're kicking off the show chatting about a favorite topic - organization. I've been reading up on what the experts have to say and today we'll talk about one of their pet peeves, one that sneaks up on my home and might just hit yours as well. Then we're moving on to a little self-improvement. With the New Year in your rear view mirror you may be wondering why that resolution failed, or maybe you're still rolling along but are getting a little weary. Resolutions are about creating change and one of the things that makes change easier is habits. Today we're checking out an article from the New York Times discussing myths we believe about habits, myths that can make it harder to create good habits. And then it's on to our kids. One of the most dreaded questions in a family's day is when a parent asks a child, "How was school today?" Kids get stressed because they don't really know how to answer and parents get frustrated because they want more than the one-word answer they often receive. Listen in for some insights and suggestions for getting real answers out of your child so you can not only learn about their day but also gain insights into other aspects of their life. We'll wrap up with Christmas Corner where we're continuing our Debt-Free Holiday series. Today you find out what to do with the last couple week's journaling activities and how it can help you create a better celebration. Between the winter storms and winter germs we haven’t had a normal week around our house since before Christmas. Snow days extended the Christmas break and have shown up several times since. Hubby’s tutoring sessions are in constant flux because clients can’t get out of their subdivisions or libraries where they meet are closed. Our baby missed a couple days of school due to some strange bug going around and, to top it off, one of our cars decided that it’s just too cold to leave the garage so we’ve been juggling rides with one car while Tom fixes that. I’m hearing similar stories from families all over the country. There was even an article in the paper about the weather and how it’s contributing to families’ crankiness. Between the cabin fever and the disrupted schedules, we’re all feeling the pinch. Today I want to share some ideas to help you move past that. We’ll be kicking things off with a few ways you and your spouse can cozy up and enjoy the extra indoor time followed by some tips for creating easy yet fabulous centerpieces when you invite some friends over to break up the boredom. Then we’ll be moving into our special time management magic segment where I’ll be sharing unexpected ways to create more time and less stress in your busy life. We’ll wrap things up in Christmas Corner where I’ll share another gift from our Christmas that will give you some ideas and also save you some hassle as you create handmade gifts of your own. And we’ll continue our conversation about holidays and finances and how to subsidize your celebrations.
