Friday 22nd of March 2013
This will be our last time to deal with the text itself. We then will have two summary sermons of the entire book of Revelation. ...We’ve just heard Jesus say to the Churches that He is the King of Kings Who was “spoken” by David and all the former prophets; and that He is that Morning Star – the dawning of a new day; for previously there was only darkness and the shadow of death. But He will come quickly; and He will be light and life to all the world. At that point, the end of what is our verse sixteen, He has completed the Revelation of all that was “about to be”. And verse seventeen has to do with the anticipation of all that is about to be… at His Parousia....
Thursday 14th of March 2013
...And the light of the Morning Star, the Savior of the world, would decreate the darkness. And throughout all the years, or millennia, of His Kingship, the effects of the darkness and death would be increasingly reversed until the knowledge of God would cover the earth as the water covers the sea. It would all be in the full light of His Person and His salvation...
Friday 8th of March 2013
Today we will be dealing almost entirely on the second half of verse sixteen. "I, Jesus, sent My messenger to testify these things to you in the Churches. I AM David’s root and offspring; the bright morning star." The strengthening and confidence and assurance of all of His holy ones in all of the Churches in the nations would have been greatly enhanced by this statement from Jesus; for it drives down to the very core of the Gospel of Jesus Christ the King of Kings and Savior of the world....
Friday 1st of March 2013
Today we will be dealing, almost entirely with verse 15. "Without… the dogs and the sorcerers and the fornicators and the murderers and the idolaters and all who love and practice falsehood." Who are the dogs? What are they without?
Friday 22nd of February 2013
Today we will look at verses 10-12. 10) And it said to me, ‘you may not seal up the words of the prophecy of this scroll, for the time is near; 11) the unrighteous be he yet unrighteous, the filthy be he yet defiled; the righteous be he yet work righteousness, the holy be he yet hallowed. 12) Lo, I come quickly, My wages with Me, to recompence each as is his work.
Friday 11th of January 2013
We will finish verse 5 today "...and there will be no night there, so they will have no need of a lamp or sunlight, for Kurios God will shine forth upon them; and they will reign into the ages of the ages." We will be reading from Micah, Zechairah, Exodus, Isaiah, Luke, Romans, I Corinthians, I Timothy as well as Revelation. "... So, we are co-prophets, co-priests, co-judges and co-kings in Christ our Savior. And we reign with Him just as did the “firstborns” of the resurrection at the Parousia of the Christ. We are the children of the Daughter of Zion; and we are of the Royal Priesthood of Jesus Christ – prophets, judges, priests and kings in Him. We own all of this in Him; it belongs to us in Him. And just remember that the seed of the serpent is powerless when you’re unafraid."
Friday 4th of January 2013
Today we will be dealing mostly with verse 5, and then we will finish this verse next week. "...and there will be no night there, so they will have no need of a lamp or sunlight, for Kurios God will shine forth upon them; and they will reign into the ages of the ages." ...You see, God’s concept of the “night” is a state of “darkness” of wisdom and understanding; it is a state of “blackness” regarding anything of God. It is an absence of any “light”. But in our text here, John is shown that there will be an absence of “night”! There will be no “night” in the holy Jerusalem coming down from God….no darkness; for they would see the countenance of God and the Lamb. The brightness of God and the Lamb would shine upon them; and there would be no darkness of understanding of the Truth and Righteousness of God....
Friday 21st of December 2012
...What we’re seeing here is the restoration of all the earth to its original paradise; for there would no longer be any curse; for God had spoken an eternal covenant of peace. Before we go further in the text, I want to spend our last few minutes this morning in a reminder of Reformed Theology and our Lord’s “reformation” of His Church....
Friday 14th of December 2012
We start the very last chapter this morning. We will do a quick re-cap and then begin with verses one and two. 1) And it showed me a river of water of life, clear as crystal, going forth from the throne of God and the Lamb 2) in midst of its streets, and the river flowing hence; and from there a tree of life producing twelve fruits each month, the tree rendering its fruit and its leaves into the healing of the nations;
Friday 7th of December 2012
Today we will read some Old Testament passages from Isaiah, Joel, Zechariah, and Ezekiel what John is shown here in the Revelation just before the end of the age and the appearance of the King of Kings and Savior of the World. He writes it all to the Churches: there was about to be, at the Parousia of the Christ, a new heaven and a new earth. The old serpent and deceiver of the nations would be cast into the abyss… never to deceive the nations again. And the New Jerusalem would come down from God. It would be, unlike the first one, a “holy” Jerusalem – the tabernacle of God with man. And it would be perfect in all respects; and no idolaters, fornicators or liars would ever be found in it.
Friday 30th of November 2012
...There is now a New Jerusalem – God-With-Us – the perfections of which are seen and described by John as appearing at the Parousia of The Christ, and which are prophesied throughout Scripture. The tabernacle of God is with man. And its perfections are indeed glorious, and “in contrast” with the first Jerusalem. He is with us; and righteousness now dwells upon the earth! There is now a new – and holy – Jerusalem – a perfect one; for God tabernacles with us… whereas, the first Jerusalem was imperfect, and provided the prophetic foreshadowing of the new one!...
Wednesday 21st of November 2012
...Because of what Jesus has done, there is a new heaven and a new earth in which our God makes His abode with us, and in which righteousness dwells. Whereas, in the first heaven and the first earth, God condescended to even look upon it all!... ....And our Lord Jesus Christ – the Owner Who paid for it and inherited it – would do what the first Adam did not do… which is to populate the world with those written in the Lamb’s book of life, and cast the full legacy of the first Adam into the eternal lake of fire.
Friday 16th of November 2012
...What John is shown is the new Jerusalem coming down from God… holy; and adorned round about with the crown of gleaming stones; for He is With us.... The Savior of the World promised that He would save the world; and it will all be a crown of glory for the Father when He’s done. And within the Church of Jesus Christ there’s no greater alien deviation from the Faith than the two-kingdom theology now being publically propagated. It calls for Christians to be hyphenated and schizophrenic as they live in a secret, personal devotion to Christ; and operate (somewhat secretly) in another kingdom that doesn’t belong to Him.
Friday 9th of November 2012
Once more… John is shown the new Jerusalem coming out of the heaven from God. She would be God tabernacling with us! Before, He tabernacled in the heaven (above the heaven) and was unapproachable by man. But at the appearance of the God/man, Jesus Christ, having poured out His blood, and having entered once into His Presence for the sin of the world, God would now be with us! The time was near (John wrote nineteen hundred and forty-five years ago). We will look at the Old Testament prophesies from Ezekiel and Isaiah, that are exactly what John sees here in our text.... The new Jerusalem coming down from God was like a precious stone, radiant and gleaming with the glory of God, like a jasper stone and crystal clear.
Friday 2nd of November 2012
Today we will be dealing mostly with verses 9-11, after we review "God-with-us", Immanuel! 9) Then one of the seven messengers that had the seven bowls filled with the seven last plagues came and spoke with me saying, “here, I will show you the bride – the wife of The Lamb”. 10) And it did bear me in spirit upon a great and high mountain and showed me the city – the holy Jerusalem coming down from the God of the heaven 11) having her God’s glory, her radiance like a precious stone, crystal clear as a jasper stone,
Friday 28th of September 2012
Today we will look more closely at verses 5,6 and 7. 5) Then the One sitting upon the seat said: “Lo, I make everything new!” And He says, “write; for these words are sure and true”; 6) He said to me, “they are come to pass. I, the Alpha and the Omega, the First and the Last, will freely give from the source of the water of life to him who thirsts; 7) and the one overcoming will inherit these things, and I will be God to him and he will be My son.
Thursday 20th of September 2012
Verse four: “and He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, the death will be no more, neither sorrow nor crying nor pain will be any more, for the firsts passed away.” At the appearance of the Christ at the end of the age, the first heaven and the first earth would pass away. And the first heaven and earth, and the first Jerusalem, would pass away in a flood of His wrath. And He will tabernacle with us and wipe away every tear from our eyes!...
Friday 14th of September 2012
...The new heaven and the new earth promised imminently to the Churches of the first century comprises all the years of our Lord’s dominion, during which all flesh will bow down before Him. Multitudes promised to Abraham from all the peoples and tribes and tongues of the world will be rebirthed into Him; the whole earth will increasingly rejoice in peace and prosperity; the earth’s treasures will be brought to Him by the kings of the nations. The paradise mandate will be consummated by the reconciliation of all things IN HIM. And all His enemies will be put under His feet as the satan and death and hades are cast into the lake of fire.... This was imminent for the Churches of the first century. It is a current and present reality for us! We live in the new heaven and the new earth; and there is a new city of God which is “God With Us” – Immanuel!
Friday 7th of September 2012
What John is shown, and what he writes to the Churches here at the beginning of chapter twenty-one, is that which is shortly to come. And it is the same that was shown to the prophets of old; and it is that which Jesus Himself prophesied in His parables and words and deeds; and it forms the context for all of the apostolic documents of the New Testament....
Tuesday 28th of August 2012
...The seventh “then I saw…” therefore, is not to be understood sequentially … as the next thing to be anticipated. It is not to be perceived to come “after” judgment day and the completion of the Christ’s work. It is not wholly future! All of that which is revealed here in the seventh, regarding the eternality of paradise on earth, is definitively and progressively true right now; and it has been since the advent of the Christ and His 70AD Parousia! God has always perceived the “origin” and the “consummation” as one. He sees the end from the beginning, for He has purposed it! The Word of God made flesh IS the beginning and the end – the Alpha and the Omega. That’s God’s purpose; and the Word of God brings His purpose to pass! It’s God’s perspective here in chapter twenty-one....
Friday 24th of August 2012
The seventh “then I saw…” is not to be understood sequentially … as the next thing to be anticipated. It is not to be perceived (i.e. from our point of view) to come “after” judgment day and the completion of the Christ’s work. It is not wholly future! As we’ll see as we proceed through this chapter, all of that which is revealed regarding the eternality of paradise on earth is definitively and progressively true right now! That’s God’s perspective here in chapter twenty-one. The enjoyment of our eternal inheritance in Christ will be a “perfection” of all that’s true right now concerning our Lord’s Kingdom and His work. The tabernacle of God IS with man!
Thursday 16th of August 2012
Today we will finish up chapter 20, focusing primarily on verses 11-15. We will also discuss the myths that are, and have been taught about "the second coming", and the apparent "warfare" between two mighty cosmic powers.... Jesus is returning to set up a kingdom in Jerusalem? Where, in all that John is shown, is there a future seven-year tribulation? And where is it found that Jesus would return to the earth… either pre-tribulation, or mid-tribulation, or post- tribulation? Where in Scripture is there a rapture?.....
Thursday 9th of August 2012
...What John is shown here, as recorded for us in the first ten verses of this text, is that this “serpent of old”, the dragon, diabolos, “the satan”, was to be bound at our Lord’s Parousia (70AD - the destruction of Israel), and shut up and sealed in the abyss for all the years decreed (1000 years - millennium), so that it couldn’t deceive the peoples and tribes and tongues of the earth any longer! The satan has been bound and thrown into the abyss already for the last some 1944 years!...
Friday 3rd of August 2012
We’ll see that this brief ten-verse passage at the beginning of our chapter twenty, summarizes the entire prophetic Word regarding the work of Jesus Christ in the Gentile nations… and the redemption of the cosmos itself! During all the years that the satan is bound, the glorious light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ will be shed across all the nations and peoples of the earth! The River of Life will have reached the farthest and most obscure places! And the gross darkness of the satan’s domain will be increasingly decreated until the Lord Jesus Christ is acknowledged universally as King of Kings and Lord of Lords! And at the end of all the decreed years, the satan will be loosed to find that its former domain is in the full light of the glory of its Redeemer!
Friday 20th of July 2012
Today we will be finishing up verses 1-10, primarily 7-10. John is shown the terminal end of the satan. At the point when all the years of Christ’s work among the nations is complete (the thousand years), the dragon/beast would be loosed from its bondage, only to find that its domain would be very different from what it was before it was bound! ...Like it had done before… upon being loosed from its bondage the serpent/beast would come forth to incite all of the sea of depraved humanity against the Christ; but it would find the darkness of its former domain full of the light of Christ!...
Friday 13th of July 2012
Today we will be looking at verses 4-10. John says he saw “seats”. And the seats that he sees (at the imminent Parousia of The Christ) are the seats of those who belonged to Him at His appearance! The only seats that he sees at the appearance of The Christ are those of the firstfruits, since at the Lord’s Parousia they are the only ones at that time to be rebirthed into Him! He sees the seats occupied by the prophets of old who were humiliated and persecuted and killed, and their blood poured out on the land. They are the ones who have been “stricken”. I’ve used that word “stricken” there in verse four because it more closely approaches the treatment of all of God’s holy ones and prophets at the hands of the judaist priests and elders and pharisees of Israel.
Friday 6th of July 2012
Orthodox, apostolic preaching and teaching is the Sword of the King! It teaches the birth, death, resurrection, ascension and parousia of God’s King (all prophesied). It teaches the destruction of the harlot nation by the Sword of His mouth. It teaches the binding of the satan so that in all the years decreed, it can’t deceive the Lord’s people in the Gentile nations. It teaches the complete work of the Christ over all the kingdoms and nations of the earth, bringing light and life and peace and bounty and fruitfulness (all prophesied). It teaches the judgment of the dead (those not alive in Him), and the judgment of the devil and of death itself. And, finally, it teaches a new heavens and a new earth for the glory of the Father.
Friday 29th of June 2012
What is the Lord's authority over the satan? What are it's names? It has been cursed by Yahveh; however, it should not be cursed by you and me. Since it has been cursed by our Lord, it would be presumptuous for you or me to curse it; that would be taking on an authority that you and I don’t have. And, further, the act of assuming the authority of God to curse and condemn God's dignities is an arrogance unbefitting of a newborn in Christ. And, besides, speaking to it presumes that it has an omnipresence and ubiquity that it doesn’t possess! Speaking to it assumes that it has the nature of Father, Son and Spirit, when it is only a creature! ....
Friday 22nd of June 2012
A review what we know about the creature called (variously) the dragon, the serpent of old, diabolos and the satan. John hears its names (its appellations), and so brings all of the Biblical data to this place in the text. All we know about the existence and nature and activity of this accuser/adversary is what is revealed prior to the Parousia/appearance of Jesus Christ. We only learn what its post-Parousia status would be here at the end of The Revelation. But that, you see, is the critical point in our understanding! So let’s hear that again. All we know about this creature up to this point is revealed prior to the Parousia of our Lord. And that means that all of the instances in which it is revealed in God’s Word are prior to its being bound by apostolic doctrine and preaching of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
Thursday 14th of June 2012
Today we will discuss the binding and loosing of the satan. What do those 2 words really mean? 1) Then I saw a messenger holding the abyss key and a great chain in its hand coming down out of the heaven, 2)and it laid hold on the dragon, (the old serpent that is diabolos and the satan) and bound it a thousand years 3)and cast it into the abyss and locked and sealed over it so that it couldn’t further deceive the Gentiles until the thousand years is complete; afterward it is necessary to loose it a short time.
Friday 8th of June 2012
Today we begin a great chapter, but first we will do a little re-cap and then begin chapter 20. And remember the sevens! The sevens indicate fullness and completion. The Churches are to understand that here is the full, and complete, and final Word of God revealed to the last prophet – John. And all the remainder proceeds from that verse eleven of chapter nineteen. And John begins the seven. “Then I saw…” “Then I saw…” “Then I saw”. There are seven of them. And they must be read and understood in their finality. Three of them are there in the last verses of chapter nineteen (beginning at verse eleven) and four of them after the chapter concludes – three of which are here in chapter twenty! And these seven are the last of the series of “sevens” that we’ve seen all through the Revelation!
Friday 1st of June 2012
This is the last sermon in chapter 19... ...John sees the tabernacle open for the spectacular sight of the One Who has been given all authority; He is seated on His white horse, many diadems crowning His head; the covenantal bow of Almighty God above His head; the Sword of the Word of God proceeding from His mouth; His warrior army seated on white horses with Him (the ones Who He sought out and saved from the wrath to come.) And He is ready to take dominion of all that is His. And John says: “and I saw…” seven times! And what he saw was our Lord OVERCOMING! He saw it all in the present tense. And he saw it all YET TO BE! ...
Friday 25th of May 2012
The entire created realm – the cosmos – exists because of Him; it was all brought to be by Him; and He is its “rock” to Whom it is attached; and all of it will be reconciled to God because of Him through the smiting of the nations. That’s a mighty cosmic revolution, for He is God the Word Who performs all that He speaks! Depraved mankind and a cursed creation will be overcome by Him!.....You and I are to hold His testimony, keep His Commandments, deliver the Message, and rest in His work (just as God rested in His completed work of creation).
Thursday 17th of May 2012
We will be dealing with vss. 14-15 - the armies in the heaven... and then the sharp sword proceeding from His mouth. 14) ...the armies in the heaven – clothed in pure white linen - following Him on white horses, 15) a sharp sword proceeding from His mouth, that with it He would smite the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron.
Friday 11th of May 2012
This morning we will be dealing primarily with verse 15: ...There is one part of the description in which John departs from the present tense. Listen carefully: “a sharp sword proceeding from His mouth, that with it He would smite the nations, and He will rule them with a rod of iron” (verse fifteen). The instrument that is presently proceeding from the mouth of the Christ (i.e. the Sword), and the rod of iron, will be used (and here the sense is future) regarding the nations. The Sword (presently proceeding from His mouth, as John writes) is ongoing in the judgment of the harlot (present tense). But it would also be the instrument by which He would smite the nations. And the “rod of iron” is that by which He will rule them.
Friday 4th of May 2012
Today we are still in verse 12: "His eyes as flaming fire, many diadems on His head, having a written name that is known by no one but Him." ...So, in contrast to the diadems (the gold headplates) of the serpent and the beast; and in contrast to the blasphemous name taken by the beast, John is shown, here in our text, the only One to Whom the diadems belong; and He is the only One Who “knows” the Name!...
Friday 6th of April 2012
Today we will be dealing with verse 11: As mentioned last Lord’s Day, please pay close attention to how John writes what he has seen. This view of God’s will and purpose is written in the present tense – even though John sees that which is imminent… about to be… that which is “at hand”. John sees the One Who IS seated on a white horse (present tense); One Who IS Faithful and True (present tense); One Who judges and wages war in righteousness (present tense)… although His Parousia is imminent – yet to be! "...Then I saw the heaven opened and, lo, a white horse; and seated upon it One called Faithful and True, and He judges and wages war in righteousness,
Friday 30th of March 2012
...Now… that having been said, let’s consider all that John is shown next – starting with verse eleven and then, over the next couple of weeks at least, through sixteen. And please continue to hold this in your mind, that this is the Revelation of that which is “about to take place”; and the host of the tabernacle has just rendered a cosmic “halleluia” for Almighty God the Son Whose further work is about to begin. The time is near...
Friday 23rd of March 2012
... "Then in verse six of our text, there is a fourth “halleluia”, for Almighty God The Son, Xristos Kurios, has saved His people; and He has now assumed all authority in the heavens and the earth (as prophesied); and He is ready to go forth to His further work of “overcoming” and saving the world! And the prophesied Word regarding Him and His further work is also True and Just and Righteous! And John is shown what the essence of that work will be. And the view of what will come to be will take us through verse sixteen....."
Friday 16th of March 2012
REVELATION 19:1-21 Part 4 Christmas Day 2011 Supplemental: Isaiah 8-11 ...Since this is the celebration of the birth of Christ the Lord (XRISTOS KURIOS), I’d like to take you back to another portion of the prophetic Word – this one concerning His birth (700 years in the future) and the covenantal context in which it was spoken. And as we read you’ll hear all of the context surrounding that wonderful future event, and that both context and language are the same that which we find in John’s Revelation....
Friday 9th of March 2012
Today we will look more closely at verse one: "After these I heard as a great sound of a multitude in the heaven saying “halleluia the salvation and the glory and the power of our God...." ...The Psalm I just read (Psalm 118 – the last of the six “hallel” Psalms) is called the “hosanna”, a Hebrew word which means “save now!” “This is the day which YAHVEH has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it. Save now, we beseech thee, O YAHVEH; O YAHVEH, we pray thee, prosper us now!”...
Friday 2nd of March 2012
What John hears now in chapter nineteen is the entire tabernacle of God erupting in joyous praise at the judgment that has just been rendered (recorded in chapter eighteen). And what we want to get at this morning is the anticipation of God’s imminent judgment upon Israel and the city of Jerusalem, and the great joy among all the creatures in the heaven that it was now about to take place!
Friday 24th of February 2012
Today we begin chapter 19.... There are many things swirling around in my mind that I need to do… to help bring clarity, knowledge and understanding, in order that you are caused to fear, for (as the Scripture says) fear of God is the beginning of wisdom. It’s the starting place. John hears this mighty sound thundered throughout the tabernacle (verse five) “all you His servants, the small and the great who are afeared, extol our God!” We’ll spend some more time on it when we come to the verse; but, for our purposes this morning, I had to coin the new word: “afeared”. His servants are the ones who have been caused to fear. It’s in the passive voice… so it isn’t something servants do; rather it is something that they receive!
Friday 10th of February 2012
Today we will be dealing with verse 20 only.... "Be gladdened over her heaven and holy ones and apostles and prophets! for from your lawsuit God did pass judgment on her.” The language used in the Revelation of God’s original Garden of Eden appears as well in the descriptions of Israel - the paradise land of promise. So, we know that, in the infinite and incomprehensible mind of God, they are “alike”. And they were alike in that they both were to reflect the glory of God and His tabernacle in the heaven...
Wednesday 1st of February 2012
Today we will be dealing with verses 9-19. 9)When they look upon the smoke of her burning, the kings of the earth who fornicated and reveled with her will weep and lament over her, 10) having stood at a distance in awe of her torment, saying ‘woe, woe the great city’, Babylon the mighty city, for your judgment came in one hour. 11) And the merchants of the earth weep and sorrow over her because there is no longer anyone buying their cargo...
Friday 27th of January 2012
Today we will finish up verses 6, 7, and 8. ...I’m going to take you through the prophetic Scripture now – from the beginning to the end – concerning the “day” – the one day of YAHVEH. So, once again we’ll see the continuity that exists in what God said through the prophets of old and what He says here to the last prophet – John.
Friday 20th of January 2012
...And John then hears the thunderous sound of the Lord of Hosts as He proclaims in judgment: “Repay her just as she meted out; and double double according to her works! Mingle her double in the cup that she mingled” (verse six).... And we – the Gentiles – are the beneficiaries of that restitution; for those of us who have received faith as a gift are recipients of His promise – the promise made to Adam and to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. And we are to be faithful to Him – to hold the testimony of Jesus and keep His Commandments.
Friday 13th of January 2012
Today we will be finishing up through verse 5. ...Having joined with the nations to cut off the seed of the woman, and having prostituted herself with the kings and merchants of the world, Israel has always rejected the terminal end of the nation in the Day of YAHVEH (as prophesied through all the prophets of old). And it has always rejected the eminently prophesied fullness of God’s promise to save His elect people in The Christ – the Strong Right Arm of YAHVEH!...
Friday 6th of January 2012
We will finish looking at verses 1-3. 2) And He did cry out in a mighty sound, saying “she has fallen! Babylon the Great has fallen! She [Jerusalem] has become a dwelling place of demons and a haunt of every unclean spirit and a gathering of every unclean and detestable bird. 3) All the nations drank from the wine of the passion of her fornication; for the kings did fornicate with her, and the merchants of the earth became rich from the power of her wantonness.”
Friday 30th of December 2011
After those (verse one), after those messengers that were sent out from the tabernacle, all being of the same “kind”, and all having been given authority, there now comes another One (this one of a different “kind”). And this Messenger isn’t “given” authority; and He isn’t “sent” from the tabernacle! This One has great authority (John is very specific in his language here)! And of His Own accord He “comes down” from the heaven… He isn’t “sent”!....
Wednesday 14th of December 2011
This is going to be an introduction to chapter 18 today. First we will go over my method of exegesis for the book of Revelation. Then we will begin the introduction to this incredible chapter. Chapter eighteen is the covenantal lawsuit against Jerusalem and all Israel. All the creatures in the heaven, and the shed blood of all the righteous in history, and Moses and the prophets, and Jesus and His apostles – all brought the lawsuit against the harlot; and God, having pronounced her guilty, now pronounces the sentence in the lawsuit. And never again will she enjoy any of His benefits.
Friday 9th of December 2011
" at the end of the age, the latter days, the harlot’s execution was at hand. And all the nations with which the harlot had been promiscuous were turned on her through the vengeance of the dragon and the envy of the beast....
Friday 2nd of December 2011
Today we will look at the beast - the dragon, the Roman empire... What it looked like, what it's purpose was, and how it was deceived by God. And then we are going to to give you a brief (very brief) “overview” of the forty years between the crucifixion-and-resurrection of our Lord (in about 30AD), and His Parousia at the end of the age (in 70AD). The overview will be from the historians’ perspectives; and it has to do with the Roman empire and its caesars. And you’ll see that it fits pretty well into God’s perspective of His Own history (as shown to Daniel and to John here in Revelation seventeen).
Tuesday 22nd of November 2011
Part 7 of chapter 17... All that remained of the land; all that remained of Jerusalem; all that remained of the man-made replica of God’s tabernacle; and all that remained of the tribes of Jacob – the very “atmosphere” of the heaven-and-earth paradise that God had made the “center” of the earth – would cease to exist as the seven bowls of the full and final wrath of God were poured out. That strong and terrible fourth beast with its iron teeth would eat the harlot’s body and burn the remainder… all with deceived “certainty” that it had cut off the “seed” (and, therefore, the promised Kingdom).
Friday 18th of November 2011
The promise of "the seed". Last week I noticed a little"disconnect" with you as we dealt on "the seed". Today we will pause for a bit and look into it a bit further.
Friday 11th of November 2011
We will do a little re-capping and begin looking at verses 1 and 2. 1) Then one of the seven messengers having the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying ‘here, I show you the judgment of the great harlot that sits by many waters 2) with whom the kings of the earth did fornicate and those indwelling the land were made drunk from the wine of her fornications.
Friday 4th of November 2011
This morning we are still looking into the identity of the beast of the Revelation - mostly dealing with the beast of the 4th Kingdom. The apostle John was told that "once again... you must prophesy"! Here at the end of the age there was to be one last prophetic Word written. Here at the end of the age one more man was to stand in the very presence of Almighty God (as did all of the former prophets) and hear His Word with regard to Israel. For sixteen hundred years the prophets who received the Word directly from YAHVEH Lord of Hosts spoke His Word and wrote His Word; and they were all persecuted for doing so. But here at the end of the age there was no more call for Israel's repentance. The Word of God through the apostle John - prophet John - was sent to the Churches instead. It was for their understanding and comfort and assurance in midst of all that was happening and about to happen shortly. And it was all "chilling" and "awe-inspiring" at the same time; for the great "mystery" of God was made clear to all - in the mighty Right Arm of YAHVEH - the Son of God/Son of Man.......
Friday 28th of October 2011
Today we will look into the identification of the beast, after we say a few more things about the harlot. 1) Then one of the seven messengers having the seven bowls came and spoke with me, saying ‘here, I show you the judgment of the great harlot that sits by many waters 2) with whom the kings of the earth did fornicate and those indwelling the land were made drunk from the wine of her fornications. 3) And it bore me away in spirit into isolation. Then I saw a woman sitting upon a crimson beast full of blasphemous names, having seven heads and ten horns;
Friday 21st of October 2011
A quick review of where we have been in the Book of Revelation and then... Here in chapter seventeen, Israel’s unfaithfulness is seen by John through the image of an unfaithful wife – a harlot that has fornicated with all the nations and peoples of the earth. The image shown to John is one in which the harlot has great power and influence over the nations because of her beauty and her lewdness.
Friday 30th of September 2011
The 6th Bowl of God's wrath poured out on the land... 12) And the sixth poured out its bowl on the great river, the Euphrates; and its water was dried up so that the approach of the kings from the sun’s rising would be prepared. 13) Then I saw three unclean spirits as frogs from the mouth of the dragon and from the mouth of the beast and from the mouth of the pseudoprophet. 14) These are demon spirits which are going forth unto the kings of the whole world doing signs to gather them into the great war of the Day of Almighty God: 15) ‘Lo! I come as a thief. Blessed the one watching and guarding his garments that he may not be walking about uncovered and they observe his shame.’
Friday 23rd of September 2011
Today we will be looking at the Fifth bowl of God's final and full wrath poured out upon the land. 10) And the fifth poured out its bowl on the seat of the beast; and its kingdom became shrouded in darkness. And they were gnawing their tongues from the misery, 11) and they blasphemed The God of the Heaven for their pains and their sores. But they did not turn from their works.
Friday 16th of September 2011
This morning we are still in verses eight and nine: 8) And the fourth poured out its bowl on the sun; and it was given it to burn men in fire; 9) fierce heat! And the men were burned, and they blasphemed the God having the power of these plagues and did not turn to give Him glory.
Friday 9th of September 2011
...And in verse seven of the text, John hears a great shout of affirmation from the incense table (the place of prayer) in the tabernacle of God. It comes from all of the remnant of Jacob whose blood has been poured out; for they had prayed that Almighty God would avenge their blood (chapter six, verses ten and eleven). And John hears them now shout “YES”, Kurie (Lord), Almighty God! True and righteous Your judgments....
Friday 26th of August 2011
In this chapter we are looking into understanding the "pouring out" of the bowls of God's wrath into the land, the sea, the rivers and water sources... and there blood came to be.... "and I heard the waters messenger saying ‘just are You, the IS and the WAS, the Holy One; for You did judge thus, because they did pour out the blood of the righteous and the prophets. Therefore you have given them blood to drink. Worthy they are!..."
Thursday 18th of August 2011
The last 4 weeks we have been looking mostly at verses 1 and 2. This morning we will move now and begin studying verses 3,4, and 5. 3) And the second poured out from its bowl into the sea, and blood as of a corpse came to be; and every being that was alive in the sea rotted. 4) And the third poured out from its bowl into the rivers and their water sources, and there blood came to be; 5) and I heard the waters messenger saying ‘just are You, the IS and the WAS, the Holy One; for You did judge thus..."
Friday 12th of August 2011
...Outside of the Body of Christ we are all one great big oozing, malignant sore that is detestable and only worthy to burn eternally in the lake of fire under the altar in the tabernacle of God. The smoke of the burning will then be pleasing to God. So the first messenger to pour out the very first bowl of the final wrath of God upon the land is the sign of Israel’s despicable uncleanness – the sign of man’s depravity outside of The Christ. That’s why it’s first.
Friday 5th of August 2011
Here in chapter 16, there’s a mighty shout from the tabernacle as this fourth living creature (cherub) commands the seven messengers to GO and pour out the seven bowls of the wrath of God into the land. It is the “full” wrath of God; and it is “final”! There will be a complete end; and then, when the sevens are done, John will be shown the sign of the new day that’s about to be in Christ Jesus. We have that to look forward to in the latter chapters.
Friday 29th of July 2011
As the sign continues here without a break from chapter fifteen, one of the first things that comes to our attention once again is the numerical perfection by which Almighty God views His Own creation and His Own history, and by which He reveals it. We’ve observed it before; and it continues here. And since John has already written that this is an “awesome” sign (15:1), and since it is the first time he’s used that term describing a sign in the heaven, then we have to consider that the use of all the “sevens” here is also great and awesome! And, of course, it is.
Friday 22nd of July 2011
Since what we read here is in much the same language of God as we find in the older Scripture; and since it has to do with the decreation of God’s “heaven and earth” Israel; and since there have been questions about that heaven-and-earth language and about God’s perception of His “paradise land”; and since there have been questions concerning the “shaking” and “staggering” and the mountains fleeing and the lights being extinguished and the land of plenty becoming a wilderness , we need to use some of our time this morning… reading.
Friday 15th of July 2011
This will be our last sermon in this chapter. Verse 8: "...and the holy place was filled of smoke from the glory of God and from His power; and not one was enabled to enter into the holy place until the seven plagues of the seven messengers were finished." The "holy place was filled"... the tabernacle in the heavens.... Although John’s letter continuously refers to the tabernacle in the desert and its Levitical priesthood, it’s for the purpose of revealing the awesome “changes” that occurred with the coming of the Christ – the Royal High Priest in the latter days! God’s tabernacle in the heaven has undergone vast changes from the “pattern” that was shown to Moses on Mount Sinai.
Friday 8th of July 2011
Now we’ve heard the witness to God against the harlot (the Song of Moses), and the praise for the mighty deeds of the Lamb of God and (Kurie) Lord of heaven and earth. The hundred and 144,000 witnesses having testified before the Judge of all creation, and the firmament fiery red from the heat of His anger, the sign in the heaven returns to verse one; for John is shown, in verses five through eight (and beyond), the very words of verse one: and it says, “for God’s wrath was carried out in full through seven messengers having the last seven plagues”.
Tuesday 28th of June 2011
2) I saw as a crystal sea mingled with fire and the ones overcoming the beast and its image and the number of its name standing on the crystal sea having God’s harps; ...All of those who He came to seek and to save from the twelve tribes of Jacob (those of the promise) have been marked out by Him and sealed in rebirth into Him; and they now appear above the firmament and in the Presence of The Ancient of Days.... harping.... We will look into this further today.
Monday 27th of June 2011
This morning we will be doing some extended reading in the Old Testament so that we might understand what John is seeing here in the Revelation. This way we can make all the connections that John presents to us here in the Revelation, and understand more of God's Language.
Friday 24th of June 2011
Today we will be dealing mostly with part of verse one. Here is the verse: "Then I saw another great and awesome sign in the heaven; for God’s wrath was carried out in full through seven messengers having the last seven plagues." And as John writes what he saw for the Churches, he adds a word that he didn’t use previously… he says “I saw another great and “awesome” sign in the heaven! That Greek word could be translated either “awesome” or “wondrous”. I chose the word “awesome” because the sign is, indeed, awe-inspiring. And the word “wondrous” may leave some the idea that John had some “wonder” in his mind about what all of this was!
Friday 17th of June 2011
Since John is now shown another great sign in the Revelation of Jesus Christ (this one termed “awesome”), here in chapter fifteen; and since it follows the sign of the woman and the sign of the dragon which he was shown in chapter twelve (and which continued through fourteen); and since it is vital to all the rest of The Revelation; and since we’re entering into our fourth year (as of this morning) of preaching through John’s letter to the Churches, I’ve decided to use this first Sunday of the new chapter in recap and review.
Wednesday 8th of June 2011
This is our last sermon on chapter 14. "Then another messenger came forth from the altar having authority over the fire, and it called out with a great sound saying to the one with the sharp sickle, ‘Thrust your sharp sickle and gather the clusters of the vine of the land, for her clusters have ripened.’ 19) And the messenger thrust its sickle into the land and gathered the vine of the land and cast into the great winepress of the wrath of God. 20) And the winepress was trodden outside the city; and blood came forth from the winepress as high as the horses’ bridles for a thousand six hundred stadia.
Friday 3rd of June 2011
This morning we will be concentrating solely on verse 14 of chapter 14. Here it is: "Then I looked and, lo, a white cloud; and on the cloud the seated likeness of Son of Man having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand." What is shown to John in verse fourteen is right out of the prophecy of Daniel, who was in captivity to the first world-dominion beast of God’s history… Babylon.
Friday 27th of May 2011
Today we will be delving into verse 13, and then introducing verse 14. 13) Then I heard sound from the heaven telling me, write ‘Blessed the dead who die henceforth in Kurios; the Spirit says that they will receive rest from their travails for their works follow together with them.’ 14) Then I looked and, lo, a white cloud; and on the cloud the seated likeness of Son of Man having a golden crown on His head and a sharp sickle in His hand.
Friday 20th of May 2011
This morning we will be dealing with verses 11-13. 11) and the smoke of their torment rises into ages of ages, and they have no rest day or night.’ These are the ones who adore the beast and its image and anyone taking the mark of its name; 12) whereas the perseverance of the saints is in this: they are keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus. 13) Then I heard sound from the heaven telling me, write ‘Blessed the dead who die henceforth in Kurios; the Spirit says that they will receive rest from their travails for their works follow together with them.’
Thursday 12th of May 2011
We'll be dealing with verses 9-12. 9) Then another messenger, a third, followed them saying in a great sound ‘If anyone adores the beast and the image of it and receives a mark on his forehead or on his hand, 10) he will also drink from the wine, having been previously prepared unmixed, of the wrath of God in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented in fire and brimstone in the presence of holy messengers and in the presence of the Lamb, 11) and the smoke of their torment rises into ages of ages, and they have no rest day or night.’ These are the ones who adore the beast and its image and anyone taking the mark of its name; 12) whereas the perseverance of the saints is in this: they are keeping the commandments of God and the faith of Jesus.
Friday 6th of May 2011
Today we will be delving into verses 6-8 of chapter 14: 6)Then I saw a messenger flying in mid-heaven having age-enduring proclamation to proclaim against those dwelling on the land, and upon the nations and tribes and tongues and people 7)declaring in a great sound ‘Fear ye The God and give glory to Him, for the hour of His judgment has come; and do homage to The One having made the heaven and the earth and sea and springs of waters.’ 8)Then another, a second, followed saying ‘Fallen! Babylon the great, from whom the wine of the passion of her fornication all the nations have drunk, is fallen!’
Friday 29th of April 2011
...And now, in verses four and five, John further elaborates on the estate and character of the hundred and forty-four thousand redeemed of Israel due to the atonement made for them. And please hear how I put that: “the estate and character – due to the atonement!...
Friday 22nd of April 2011
Rev. 14:2-3. At this point we’ll now turn to the “sounds” that John now hears in the heaven. And these sounds are heard by John in connection with the Revelation of the Lamb of God standing on Mount Zion with His elect from the house of Jacob. A most glorious time is about to come to pass in God’s history of redemption (as we read here), and great sounds herald the event!
Friday 15th of April 2011
This morning we will be starting chapter 14, and get only as far as verse one. "Then I looked and, lo, a Lamb having been standing upon the mount – Zion; and with Him a hundred and forty-four thousands having had His Name and His Father’s Name written on their foreheads." “I have set My King upon Zion – My holy mountain” (verse six of the Psalm). And here in our text, verse one, is the “fullness” of the Psalm: “Then I looked and, lo, a Lamb having been standing upon the mount – Zion”!
Friday 18th of March 2011
At the close of the second hour last Lord’s Day, a question came up in the discussion; and I thought some additional comments might be good. It was regarding the obvious state of the nation (and the rest of the world) right now. With godless progressives in charge of our own, the islam-beast making steady gains in the nations, and with other clueless pseudo-religions on the rise, where are we? What’s happening?
Friday 11th of March 2011
Verse four of chapter 13: "And they adored the dragon that gave the authority to the beast and adored the beast, saying ‘who is like the beast’ and ‘who is enabled to wage war with it?’" Who is the Absolute Authority? Who gives the beast Authority? Is Islam the beast? What should the Church do to "rest" in God's Authority?
Friday 4th of March 2011
This morning we will begin with looking at the first three verses, as well as the last verse of chapter 12. Here are the verses: 12:18: And it was positioned upon the sand of the sea. 1) Then I saw a beast having ten horns and seven heads arising out of the sea; and upon its horns there were ten diadems, and a blasphemous name on its heads. 2)The beast that I saw was like a leopard, its feet as a bear, and its mouth the mouth of a lion and the dragon did give it its power and its dominion and great authority; 3)and one of its heads as having been fatally wounded and its stroke of death healed, the whole land was caused to marvel after the beast.
Friday 25th of February 2011
This is an introductory sermon to chapter 13. I’m going to make just a few points with regard to the process of translating it; and I’ll give you two or three examples of the dissimilarities and comment on why they might be there. That will be all that we’ll have time for this morning; but I think that will help us a lot as we proceed through the chapter. There have been many mistranslations to this chapter, and as a result, a misunderstanding of God's Word.
Friday 18th of February 2011
We will review what we have learned in the past 8 hours studying this chapter, and then we will continue to the end of the chapter. "... As in the history of Israel having been birthed out of Egypt, when God preserved her in all her afflictions, providing her with a paradise in the midst of wilderness, so He will now nourish and cherish the “Daughter of Zion” brought forth in the blood of the Lamb. And she will dwell in the shadow of His wings – the wings of the great flying eagle...."
Friday 11th of February 2011
...Verse five of the text is the sign of the male child having been born, and His intent to rule the Father’s creation as prophesied in the older Scripture, and His ascent to the Throne-room/Sanctuary in the heaven (it’s all one event in the sign). And as the Church reads and hears the sign of Yahveh, and remembers the prophetic Word, it receives even more assurance; for the Child, decreed from the beginning, has all authority in the heaven and upon the earth. After John’s description to the Churches of the sign regarding the Child (verse five), the sign then returns to the woman – the daughter of Zion – and the providential care taken to remove her from the danger shortly to come in the wrath of the Lamb (verse six). We’ll see that in a little while.
Friday 4th of February 2011
This morning we will be looking at the second half of verse four and then moving on to verse 5. 4)and its tail draws the third of the stars of the heaven and cast them into the earth. And the dragon stands before the woman who is about to bring forth, that when she brings forth it might devour the child. 5)And she did bring forth a son, a male who intends to rule all the nations by means of a rod of iron; and her child was hastened away to God and to His throne. ...So, the last half of verse four and all of verse five of the sign is for the purpose of comforting the Church – the newborn daughter – with the providential care given to the coming birth of its Savior.
Friday 28th of January 2011
Today we will be looking at verse three and the first part of four. 3) Then another sign in the heaven was made visible: and lo, a great fiery dragon having seven heads and ten horns and on its heads seven diadems, 4) and its tail draws the third of the stars of the heaven and cast them into the earth....
Friday 21st of January 2011
This morning we will be looking more into the second sign in chapter twelve, focusing mostly in verse three and the first part of verse four. 1)Then a great sign in the heaven was made visible: a woman sun-clothed, the moon underneath her feet, a crown of twelve stars on her head, 2)having in her belly, crying out travailing and pained to bring forth. 3)Then another sign in the heaven was made visible: and lo, a great fiery dragon having seven heads and ten horns and on its heads seven diadems...
Friday 14th of January 2011
This morning, Part 4 of chapter 12, we will be looking into the sign of the woman in the first 2 verses. 1) Then a great sign in the heaven was made visible: a woman sun-clothed, the moon underneath her feet, a crown of twelve stars on her head, 2) having in her belly, crying out travailing and pained to bring forth.
Friday 7th of January 2011
After having 2 weeks of preparation, now, let’s proceed with verse one: “Then a great sign in the heaven was made visible….” Note that John says that it was a “great” sign! And that it was “in the heaven”, and it was “made visible”; all indicating that the great sign originated in the sanctuary of God (i.e. from God Himself in order that John could see it, and that he could describe it to the Churches). This is also true of the sign of the great dragon. More about this later.
Friday 31st of December 2010
Before we delve into Chapter 12, there are a few more things that need to be reviewed so that we will understand this chapter better. The Lord makes reference to the temple no less than three times here in the first few verses of chapter twelve, where the context is complicated by occultic, Pharisaical religion. So let's review the tabernacle and the furnishings within it and learn much about Christ's Character and His work by examining them.
Friday 17th of December 2010
At the halfway point here in John’s letter, all of that which is revealed to be in the “last days” is now to be recast with “other” significance of equal weight and value. And though the same “last days” period is recounted, and though the events during that period (many of them) are the same events, and though the “cutting off” of the harlot (Israel) is the same, and though the mystery of God regarding the Gentile nations is the same, the emphasis in the last eleven chapters turns decidedly toward The Body of Christ – in the last days. (And that’s why an understanding of Luke’s text concerning Pentecost is so important.)
Friday 10th of December 2010
Verse 19 of chapter 11: "Then the Holy Place of God in the heaven was opened and the ark of His covenant in His Holy Place was revealed; and there were lightnings and sounds and thunders and shaking and great hail." In the text before us the entire host of Yahveh fills the sanctuary with loud and joyous sound as the seventh trumpeter trumpets; and the twenty-four elders give thanks that the mystery of God is fully accomplished; for the kingdom of the world of IS and WAS… IS BECOME.
Friday 3rd of December 2010
This morning we will be studying verses 16,17, and part of 18. ...As John looks on, he hears an eruption of joy and thanksgiving from the host of heaven – that the Kingdom of Jesus Christ has come to be! And our public worship is to reflect that; for our Lord IS King of the nations. He IS Savior of the world; and He IS “Overcomer” of the world. And our singing and prayers and tithes and communion and togetherness are all to reflect that....
Friday 19th of November 2010
The twenty-four creatures give thanks to Almighty God for the Revelation of the “mystery of God” – the termination of the covenant relationship with Israel and the establishment of the covenant with all nations, tongues and tribes; the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ over all the authorities of the earth; and the reign and rule of Christ and His Kingdom of Priests to the end of the salvation of the world. That’s the Gospel of God concerning His Son; and all of that is what we are to remember when we come together for “Eucharist”. We are to give thanks to Almighty God for the One Who takes away the sin of the world.
Friday 12th of November 2010
This morning we will begin in verse 15 - "Then the seventh messenger trumpeted; and there were great sounds in the heaven saying, ‘The kingdom of the world of our Lord and of His Christ did come to be, and He will reign into the ages of the ages.’ We will look in to the "mystery of God". What is it?
Friday 5th of November 2010
Today we will finish up this section of the first fourteen verses. We will do a re-cap of the of previous verses, and sum up what is occurring, and do it from God's perspective. He has revealed His mystery! And that mystery would come to its “fullness” in the days of the sounding of the seventh trumpeter! We will begin looking at that next Lord's Day.
Friday 29th of October 2010
"...You see, the “beast” was a harlot and an idolater, turning God’s Law-word upside down; and it was anticipating a false messiah. And it was a party to the history-long conspiracy to sabotage God’s covenantal salvation of His creation by persecuting and killing God’s prophets, and by killing the “Son of Oil” – The Christ, The Anointed One of God, and then by pursuing and persecuting and killing many of those who our Lord had marked and sealed for Himself from the twelve tribes.... And Yahveh laughs at them...."They do exactly what they were created to do.
Friday 22nd of October 2010
We are still looking at verses 1-6..... "....But in order to get to all of that, let’s just go back and ask the simple question (at least the question is simple): Why Moses and Elijah? Why did God reveal to these three witnesses Moses and Elijah speaking with Jesus about His Exodus? And why does our Revelation eleven text obviously do the same? I’ll try to cut to the bottom line here on these things so that we can see them quickly and clearly."
Friday 15th of October 2010
We will finish up going through verses one through five and then proceed on to begin verse six...... "The Word of God says “it is by My Spirit”. It is not by your will or your power or your force. Rather you are to “speak” the Word of God. Remember Moses and Elijah who, by speaking God’s Word, breathed out fire from the throne of God against their adversaries. It is by Word and Spirit that Yahveh deals with His adversaries.
Friday 8th of October 2010
We will finish up with the first two verses of chapter 11 by reading portions of the prophetic Word from Daniel. Then we will begin looking at verses 3 and 4 by reading portions from Zechariah as it foreshadows the fullness seen here in John's Revelation.
Friday 1st of October 2010
We will be dealing again with verses 1 and 2 this morning in order to clear up any misunderstandings or questions from last week. "...But cast out the courtyard; it and the city will be trampled forty-two months (three and a half years; twelve hundred and sixty days). There will be weeping and gnashing of the teeth and knocking at the door wanting to get in. But all those in the courtyard and the city are cast out (excommunicated). I will not open the door. And the Gentiles will trample it underfoot for forty-two months...."
Friday 24th of September 2010
...Then our Lord gives John a measuring rod and tells him to measure God’s holy place (chapter eleven)! That’s the immediate context. There’s no “break” here, you see… it’s the same scene. There’s no transition to another one. John has just consumed the scroll… the words of his prophetic task, and he is embittered; and now he’s given a measuring rod with which he is to further prophesy… just as it occurred with the prophet Ezekiel!...
Friday 17th of September 2010
As we proceed now with the verses eight through eleven, John hears the same “voice” Who told him not to write what the seven thunders uttered. Now He says “go take the scroll opened in the hand of the Messenger Who is standing upon the sea and upon the land”.
Friday 10th of September 2010
"...The catastrophe of Jerusalem and Israel signaled the beginning to a new, world-wide Kingdom of the Christ. And it is the Right Hand and strong Right Arm of God Who has gotten Him the victory. He did fully accomplish the mystery – both things… the decreation of Israel and the reconciling of the world.
Friday 3rd of September 2010
...And as John looks on here in Revelation ten, the One Who is cloud-clothed, and Whose face shines as the sun in its power, and Who has the bow above His head, places His right pillar on the sea of nations, and His left on the land of Israel, the Lion of Judah – the Great Shepherd of the Sheep – roars as He exits His lair, intent on His prey. The Mediator/Executor of the covenant prepares to bring the covenantal sanctions against the great harlot; and from above the Throne of the Lord of Hosts come the perfect seven thunders of approval of the Mediator’s work. The seven thunders are the perfect storm from the raging sea of the nations; for Yahveh Lord of Hosts gathers His armies at the roar of the Lion of Judah."
Friday 27th of August 2010
Today we will look at the first part of verse three. And (as recorded by John in verse two) the mighty Messenger is seen going down from the heaven, clothed with the glory cloud, His face shining as the sun and the bow over His head, His feet as fiery pillars. “And He placed His right foot on the sea [the nations] but His left foot on the land [Israel], and uttered a great sound as a roaring lion.”
Friday 20th of August 2010
"...And that’s what we see in our text here in Revelation ten. Newly crowned, Sovereign Lord Jesus Christ comes (Parousia) clothed with the glory cloud of the heaven, His feet as fiery pillars, and ready to convene the nations and differentiate between the sheep and the goats. He places one fiery pillar upon the sea (the nations). It’s His Right. And He places the second fiery pillar upon the land (Israel). And that’s His left. And the ones on His left are “different”. They are the ones who have pushed and shouldered and butted the sheep, and they have scattered them into the nations. The householder Who has returned as King is ready to judge between the two! The Bridegroom has come for His bride and found that she is a harlot. And the Good Shepherd knows that there are two “kinds” in His flock; and the separates them – one kind over here on His Right, and the other kind over here on His left."
Friday 13th of August 2010
We begin this morning with a a recap of past chapters and then we will begin with verse one and part of verse two. “Then I saw going down from the heaven another mighty Messenger having been cloud clothed, the bow above His head, His appearance as the sun, His feet as fiery pillars… and having the little scroll that had been opened in His hand.” And we’re going to look at John’s description of Him in His work here, as the apostle rehearses His glory and His power and authority. It is a brief description (here in verse one); but it encompasses all the others revealed in the Scripture. And it is a consistent, covenantal continuation of all of the others, for it is the same Person as the others!
Friday 6th of August 2010
This is the last sermon on chapter 9. A third; and a third; and a third…. A prophetic “dramatization” in Jerusalem, right in front of the princes, priests and elders of Israel, to “show” them what is to occur should they not repent.... ...The colors of the various armies of Rome’s conscription were hellish indeed; and so were the horses, for they breathed out every loathsome and disgusting thing from the shaft of the pit. It’s how God mockingly perceived His armies (for these are the very ones for whom Israel had “uncovered her nakedness”. The scene here is stunningly vivid! God’s mockery of Israel’s mockery....
Friday 30th of July 2010
In our text here in chapter nine, the armies of Yahveh are readied from the North; and they are myriads of myriads (John heard their number – a number which he already knew from Psalm 68… that’s why he records it here). And he heard the command from the golden altar that the cherubim be loosed. Take note that it’s the “trumpeter” that “looses” them, for in all Israel’s history it was, first, the trumpeting voice of God that brought fear and judgment; and, secondly, it was always the trumpeting that called God’s armies to battle! They are doing battle with those who mock God. Israel's mockery brought them their destruction.
Friday 23rd of July 2010
We'll be looking mostly at verse 15 and some of verse 16. 15)And the four messengers having been made ready into the hour and the day and the month and the year were loosed in order that they might kill the third of the men. 16)The number of the armies of horses: two myriads of myriads. I heard their number.

So binding and loosing have to do with divine authority – the “keys” having been given to the apostles. And since all authority in heaven and earth is centered in the “heaven”, by the Word of the Christ, the giving of the authority to bind and loose comes from there – from Him. It doesn’t come from Hades! Whatever has been bound and loosed is bound and loosed in the heaven, not in Hades! So the apostles have been given to bind and loose that which has been bound and loosed in the heaven....However, men have always wanted the authority for themselves to make personal pronouncements concerning the sins of others. From the Pharisees – to Roman Catholicism – to cultic authority figures, men have always coveted the authority of God Himself – an authority to condemn other men to hell, or to free them from their guilt, or to control them in some extra-Biblical way!...
Friday 2nd of July 2010
As we continue now from verse twelve, it says the “One woe did go forth…. Lo! It comes yet two woes after this.” There’s our little word “Lo” once again, indicating a major event of prophetic significance. The Word of the Christ is now to continue to be filled up once again due to the appearance and sounding of the sixth trumpeter....
Saturday 26th of June 2010
I concluded that my distress all that week was due to a lack of attention to the three “woes” pronounced by the eagle that John saw flying in mid-heaven (back in chapter eight). That’s “woe” to perfection, by the way (three woes). And the fact is, that we now have three “woes” pronounced upon Israel, sounded by the last three of the seven trumpeters. And the woes pronounced against Israel by the prophets were due to her sin against God, and her sins are now made the subjects of the covenantal sanctions. And that God’s heated displeasure with her is manifested in such a way that the sanctions of the covenant actually “mock” Israel’s sins. That’s what I really needed to get at here.
Friday 18th of June 2010
Notice that power is “given” to the creatures (verse three); and the power given to them is strictly limited (verses four and five). And having been released by the authority of the Christ, the power that’s then given to them indicates that they didn’t have this power previous to their having been given it.
Saturday 12th of June 2010
Due to some uploading "issues" we have to fast-forward to chapter 9. This is Part 2 of verses 1-12. We focus on "the deep, the abyss, the "pit" from whence comes the devil and the demons. "...This bottomless pit called the abyss is revealed by God seven times in the Revelation, written down by John. Three times here in chapter nine, once in chapter eleven, once in chapter seventeen, and twice in chapter twenty. As God called His creation into existence, knows and observes it, and reveals it in His older prophetic Word, the abyss is the farthest extreme of all He has made. He uses the word as a reference to the deepest parts of the sea, and to the subterranean vaults of water from whence came the flood...."
Wednesday 2nd of June 2010
Verses 4-7 How can we say that the termination of a nation in the heat of the anger and wrath of God is an act of love and mercy? Wrong question! The right question, from God’s perspective, is “Why did He save a remnant from a people which had rebelled against Him from the beginning; which had filled His temple with idols, which had persecuted and killed His prophets, and had killed His Son; and which had pursued, persecuted and killed His lost sheep?”....
Wednesday 26th of May 2010
Verses 1-3 In these first three verses, the historically inconceivable event is near. It is the termination of the edenic cosmos that God had made for Himself. He Himself had inhabited the man-made replica of His glory-cloud throne-room, built upon the rock on the top of the mount, in Jerusalem, in Israel – the “Land”… the “Earth”. It was all attached to the dome of the “rock”, above the firmament, above the cosmos called “heaven and earth” – Israel....
Friday 7th of May 2010
Vs. 1-3 We will discuss the answer to the blood of the martyrs as they cried out for God to avenge them. So we take up the “sealing” this morning… and more specifically the seal on their foreheads… the foreheads of God’s bond-servants.
Friday 30th of April 2010
Still in verses 1-3. As John looks on, he sees the four created messengers from the glory-cloud throne-room standing ready at the four corners of the earth, restraining the four winds from bringing the final desolation and shattering of Israel. The day of the Lord is near. What John sees is the last days of Israel’s existence.... Our Lord Jesus Christ, appearing as Micha-el – Archangel Michael, commands His creature/messengers not to injure the earth, the sea, or the trees until all of His elect sheep from the house of Israel are sealed... and all of them were sealed; and all of them were preserved from history’s incomparable and preeminent and transformational event – never to be repeated this side of judgment day.
Friday 16th of April 2010
As we begin this morning to look at the text, we are reminded once again that this is a continuation of our Lord’s response to the prayers and supplications of the martyrs of Christ (back in chapter six), whose blood was pooled at the base of the altar. Their blood, their life, cried out for God to avenge their blood as Jesus Christ had promised. And those of His lost sheep whose blood now cries out for God’s promised revenge are afforded a complete, seven-fold view of that revenge, wherein all of those who have shed that blood will be held to account for all the blood of the righteous in history! “After this I saw….” verse one. What is it that John has just seen? What does “after this” mean? He has just seen, in the heaven, the revealed, perfect, seven-fold judgment shortly to be poured out upon Israel. Its sin is now filled up; it has pursued and persecuted and killed many for whom Christ died. And having just seen the perfect justice of God to come quickly, he says “After this….”
Saturday 10th of April 2010
I promised last week that I would expand upon the different “appearances” of our Lord as He reveals Himself, and as the prophets and apostles describe Him and how He appears in the text of Scripture here in the Revelation. And we’re talking about what He “looks like” here. We also will discuss Trinitology, and Christology, as well as the Archangel Micha-el.
Friday 2nd of April 2010
An introduction to the seventh chapter; a recap on the context - very important; discussion on the "Trinity and Christology" element. We’re learning that we are creatures, and that creatures are, by the very nature of being creatures, subjective. We do not know universally; we do not “define” – we are “defined”; knowing more about ourselves, we know that all of creation is “defined” and is known absolutely (I’m sure you can hear the tense of those verbs… they are “passive”. Creation is defined; all of us as creatures are defined; and we and the creation are known.) We know that those absolutes do not originate in, or from, the subjective creature!; We will discuss Postmodernism and how it is contrary to what God says.

Verses 12 and following: 12) And when He did open the sixth seal a great shaking did occur, and the sun became as black as sackcloth hair, and the entire moon became as blood, 13) And the stars of heaven did fall into the earth as a fig tree casts her winter figs upon being shaken by a great wind, 14) And the heaven was swept aside as a scroll being rolled up, and all the mountains and islands were moved out of their places.
Friday 23rd of October 2009
Verses 9,10,11. "As we begin the second half of chapter six we will see, as the Lamb looses the fifth seal, the martyrs of our Lord’s Church at the end of the age. And then in the last sermon in chapter six, with the loosing of the sixth seal John is shown what is soon to be the avenging of those who have died because of the Word of God and because of their testimonies...."
Friday 16th of October 2009
Verses 6,7,8 of chapter 6. "... that little innocuous statement (seemingly innocuous) in verse six of our text: “do not unjustly injure the olive tree and the vine”. That command was a voice from the midst of the Throne. It was the voice of our Savior and our God, for Israel was “planted” in the likeness of the Throne-room in the heaven. “My green olive tree” is not to be injured; My “vine”… “My noble vine, is not to be injured.” Finally, the fourth seal is loosed. “And, LO! A pale horse. And the one sitting upon it named “the death”, and “the hades” was following Him closely; and authority was given them over a fourth of the earth to kill with sword, with famine, with plague, and by the beasts of the earth.”
Friday 2nd of October 2009
"So, at the command from the throne to “Come”, our Lord’s horseman was called to take away the “peace” from God’s heaven and earth – Israel...."....."As John witnesses the horseman on the red horse coming forth, he, of course, remembers all the prophetic Word we’ve just read; for this horseman comes to 'take the peace', that there be rancor and malice and killing and fighting and much bloodshed by the sword."
Friday 25th of September 2009
"Here in our text John sees the King of Kings riding forth leading colored horses and their riders to a great slaughter and to terrible suffering. He leads them to the beginning of travail, subsequently giving birth to a new Israel and a new city of God. You see, He has made promises to once again choose Jerusalem. He has the “bow”, you see. The one from over the mercy seat."
Friday 18th of September 2009
"What does Jesus mean when He says to them that all of these things are beginning of travails? We have to ask the question, because the context of His answer to His disciples is exactly the same as the context here in chapter six. And, too, because this is our Lord using the same prophetic language that He spoke to the prophets!"
Saturday 12th of September 2009
"Our Lord Jesus Christ is the root and stalk of the vine, and the true Branch of God’s “green olive tree”. And all of us in Him are planted in our Lord’s “new Israel”, in the “new Jerusalem”. And the command has gone out from the Throne, to all of His creatures in the heaven, that God’s green olive tree is not to be injured."
Saturday 5th of September 2009
There are four sore judgments to be sent upon Israel, according to the Word of Yahveh through His prophet. And now we read in John’s Revelation of four horses and four judgments, called forth by four cherubim. It is the “beginning of sorrows” – the “beginning of travail” – the “birthpangs” of judgment; and the “dayspring” of deliverance.

Verses 8-10: "And He did come and He takes from the right of the One sitting upon the throne. And when He did take the scroll, the four creatures and the twenty-four elders fell before the Lamb, each having a lyre and golden bowls filling with incense which are the prayers of the holy ones, and singing new songs, saying “worthy are You to take the scroll and open its seals, for You were slain, and You did buy for God in Your blood out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation..."

Verse 7: "And in midst of the throne and of the four creatures and in midst of the elders I did see a lamb standing as slain, having seven horns and seven eyes which are the Spirits of God sending forth into all the earth.

Verse one: "And I did see a scroll..." So, this “book” – a scroll – was “sealed”, by Daniel, until the “end”. And while the apostle John watches, here in our text in the Revelation, it is unsealed to reveal “that which is necessary to be done in quickness”.

Verse 8 The six wings of the four creatures in the Throne room of God. “Worthy are You, the Lord and our God, to receive the glory and the honor and the power; for You, You did create all, and by Your will they are, and they were created”.
Sunday 5th of July 2009
“…in midst of the throne and round about the throne four creatures being entirely of eyes front and back, (last part of verse six)” “Entirely of eyes front and back” indicates that these creatures are able to see immediately and in every direction, and at all times. They see to the Providence of God; and they see to what that Providence demands in the whole of the creation. They are the very eyes of the Throne of Dominion.

Verses 5, and 6a "And from the throne coming forth lightnings and sounds and thunderings, and seven fiery lamps ablaze before the throne that are the seven spirits of God, and before the throne as glassy sea like crystal...."

A further definition of covenant - stipulations, sanctions (blessings and cursings due to obedience or disobedience). Verse 4 "And round about the throne twenty-four thrones, and upon the thrones twenty-four elders having been clothed in white garments, and upon their heads gold crowns." "Now, one more time… these elders at the throne of God are not human; neither do they represent humans. It’s the other way around. Humans created by God on this earth are to perform priestly duties and prophetic duties and kingly duties in the likeness of what is in the heaven!"

Verse three "...and the One sitting like stone, jasper and sardonyx in appearance, and a bow round about the throne like emerald in appearance." "The radiance of His Glory" How has the world blasphemed God's rainbow? What does it really mean?

Verse three "...and the One sitting like stone, jasper and sardonyx in appearance, and a rainbow round about the throne like emerald in appearance." "The chief Corner Stone has been laid, with the apostles as the remainder of the foundation; and all His people are precious stones in the structure of His new holy temple. Israel was, indeed, dashed to pieces on the Rock; and the nations have been crushed and scattered that they no longer have dominion over the earth."

Verse 14: "But I have a few things against you, that you have there ones who are holding to the Balaam teaching, who was teaching Balak to lay a scandalous trap before the sons of Israel, to eat sacrifices to idols and to commit fornication." 15: As mentioned previously, you likewise have ones who are holding to the Nikolaitan teaching. 16: Repent therefore! But if not, I Am coming to you quickly, and I will make war with them arrayed with the sword of My mouth. 17: Let the one having an ear hear what the Spirit says to the Churches. To the victorious one I will give to him the hidden manna, and I will give to him a white stone, and upon the stone a new name having been written which no one has known except the one who receives it."

Verse 10: "Fear not the things that you are about to suffer. Lo! The traitor is about to cast some from you into prison in order that you might be put to the proof, and you will have affliction ten days. Remain faithful unto death, and I will give you the crown of life." ...The slanderer, through the judaists, was going to raise enough stink with accusations and suborned witnesses that the Roman city government would consider the Church of sufficient troublemaking that a number of them would be thrown into prison – all of which is being revealed in advance by Jesus, in order that the Church be “put to the proof” – the trial by fire “vindicating” them, and bringing glory to the King of Kings! For nothing that the devil can do – and nothing the pagan Roman government can do – can overcome the ordained purpose of our Lord; and nothing they can do can separate the Lord’s elect from Him....

Verse 4: "But I have against you that you did suffer your first love. Be remembering therefore from whence you fell, and repent and do the first works; but if not, I Am coming to you and I will remove your lampstand out of its place should you not repent." And when allegiance to another heritage was demonstrated there in Ephesus, then our Lord issued a very serious threat to them!"...

Part 4: Continuing the message to the Church in Ephesus. "But I have against you that you did suffer your first love." "...Even in apostolic circles there was still this leftover love for the Jewish heritage. God’s people were Jewish; Jesus Christ was born Jewish; salvation had come out of Israel. God’s Law had been given to the Jews. Gentiles were the “heathen” of the earth, although they were now received of the Lord. The ancestry, and the heritage, and the birthright, and the kingdom were first theirs. It was written in their hearts and minds. It was their first love!...

“Write the message for the Church in Ephesus.” "Although the primary and immediate context for Revelation of Jesus Christ is the parousia, there is some contextual relevance in the history, and in the location of the Churches. So we want to deal with the cities to some extent as we come to them. And, of course, a major part of that context is the Roman Empire." Why does that matter?
Sunday 31st of August 2008
Who is writing to the seven churches? the angels? the messengers? or the apostle John? What is the time frame for when these messages are to be delivered? Their generation, or ours, 2000 years later? Why the "disconnect" in the translation between chapters one and two in the message being delivered to the Churches and then the angels?
Sunday 24th of August 2008
"And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead; and He placed His right hand on me saying “fear not. I Am the First and the Last and the Living, and I became dead and LO, I am living into the ages of the ages, and I have the keys of death and hades. Therefore write the things you saw and that are and that are about to be with these. The mystery of the seven stars which you saw on my right, and the seven golden lampstands: the seven stars are messengers of the seven Churches, and the lampstands are the seven Churches.
“And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as dead; and He placed His right hand on me saying ‘Fear not. I AM the First and the Last and the Living, and I became dead and LO, I am living into the ages of the ages, and I have the keys of death and hades.” The prophet Daniel, at the appearance of Yahveh, was made as dead. And God touched him and set him upright. The same kind of language is used here by John as the resurrected, ascended and enthroned Jesus appears to him; and He touched John and spoke to Him – strengthening him that he could hear and write the words. Otherwise the Presence of God in all His glory would be unbearable to John (or any other of fallen mankind).
