Chances are you've thought about this day for years. Whether that thought took place throughout your own childhood years or those of your child, a wedding is so important. It's a time to treasure, both in the planning and in experiencing the big day. It's a time to strengthen bonds and grow our relationships. And that's what we'll be talking about this week.

Cornelia Powell, author of "The Bride's Ritual Guide: Look Inside to Find Yourself" will be joining us. She spent many years bringing more ease, pleasure and reassurance into a woman's life not only as a bride, but through all her rites-of-passage.  She'll be sharing some wonderful ideas and whether you're planning a wedding for yourself, your daughter, or a friend or you're planning another event I think you'll find great wisdom in her advice.

In Christmas Corner we'll take a look at the first Christmas for the new couple including tips and advice for the newlyweds as well as some fun and traditional gifts to give them.

Cornelia Powell ~ "The Wedding Folklorist"

Cornelia Powell, author of the 2009 Amazon bestseller, The Bride's Ritual Guide: Look Inside to Find Yourself , first made headlines in the world of weddings with her innovative and nationally recognized bridal art-to-wear store in Atlanta in the 1980s and 90s. Featured then in many magazines and newspapers as "the bride's sage," Ms. Powell was also one of the entrepreneurs featured at the time in Victoria magazine's popular book, The Business of Bliss: How to Profit from Doing What You Love.

After closing her store, Ms. Powell created an online magazine in 2006, Weddings of Grace, and is now a full-time writer, including blogging on bridal folklore and women's mythology. Her upcoming new book, The End of the Fairy-Tale Bride: How Princess Diana Rescued the Damsel in Distress & Other Princess Myths Revealed, will be out later this year with a womanly heart-opening message.

Combining her experiences as an associate editor at Vogue magazine early in her career, from working with thousands of brides and their families in her former shop and as a sought-after public speaker, Ms. Powell writes and speaks in a language of ritual and relationship, folklore and costume, stillness and self-discovery creating a "modern mythology" for all women-returning them to the intimacy of their rite-of-passage.
