With fall schedules kicking into gear some common issues are beginning to surface and we're sharing tips for slaying those dragons before they get the best of you.

First is dinner time. Getting dinner on the table every day is a tall order and sometimes things happen: you don't have an ingredient for the dish you wanted to make, someone's schedule changed and dinner must be served earlier than planned, you won't be home to do all the prep or to get it in the oven in time, or one of the other hundred things that can derail your plans. We're sharing another Emergency Dinner solution to save you on those crazy days.

The second is communicating with your child's teacher. When your child has food allergies or special needs you can use this one idea to keep them safe and ease your worry.

And one day, all that chaos will move on and move out of your home. We have author Lisa Wingate joining us to chat about empty nesting. Lisa has said that empty nesting isn't for the faint of heart. Hear this mom's story and the lessons she's learned as she walked this path.

When not disguised as an author, I am the mother of two sons. I wanted girls. I got boys. I never dreamed that boys could be so wonderful. But that is another story.

I can't remember a time when I didn't write. I started writing books before I started school, and I never quit writing. I had a very special first-grade teacher in Peasley School in Northboro , Massachusetts , who recognized a little ability and a lot of desire in a shy transfer student. Mrs. Krackhardt wrote on my report card that she expected to see my name in the pages of a magazine one day, and I suddenly felt incredibly special. She started reading my stories to the class, and I was hooked. I quickly discovered the joy of having an audience, and set out on many, many writing projects.Even though I always dreamed of becoming a writer, I didn't begin pursuing the goal in earnest until after college, marriage, a career as a journalist and technical writer, and then the birth of my oldest son (ordered girl, got boy, fell in love with boy).

Now I'm a magazine columnist, popular inspirational speaker and a national bestselling author of 16 books. My first mainstream novel, Tending Roses, will always be my sentimental favorite.
