Its time to Amp Your Good!

Do you remember food drives in the past where you put heavy cans of unwanted goods into paper bags, schlepped them to where they had to go , knowing you would have given more but you just couldn't carry more?  Well that is now a thing of the past thanks to Amp Your Good's CEO and Founder Patrick O'Neill. Patrick is a former West Point Graduate and Army Officer whose entrepreneurial spirit has long been touched with the need to help others as well as find ways to make profit. Today, we call this Social Impact.

Amp Your Good has developed a crowd-feeding platform that radically changes and improves how food drives work by replacing the traditional physical collection model with an online donation model.  Similar to crowdfunding, people and organizations set up food drives hosted on our platform at no cost.  However, instead of donating money, supporters choose the food items they would like to donate and pay for them via a standard e-commerce purchase.  When a drive ends, the good folks at Amp Your Good delivers all of the food directly to the food pantry, soup kitchen or shelter supported by the drive.  Nothing ever sits in a collection box

Amp your Good's goal is to change the way people think about food drives.  They want to turn the billions of cans donated to food drives each into billions of apples, bananas, carrots, sweet potatoes and other healthy food items.  People struggling with hunger also struggle with high rates of diet related health issues.  Crowd-feeding ensures that food drive donations are the kind of food that people facing hunger really need. Fresh, healthy, nutritious, food because children and adults alike benefit and thrive from good health, and that pays off in so many ways.

Currently there is not enough money or kids dying from this disease for there to be research to end it or cure it. Janet hopes to make this thinking obsolete.

Melissa Burch, is a best selling author, filmmaker, spiritual seeker whose latest book, her memoirs, Titled ” My Journey Through War and Peace: Explorations of a Young Filmmaker, Feminist and Spiritual Seeker” is an adventurous spiritual memoir about a woman in her twenties who seeks self-discovery and connection to something greater in the midst of danger in Afghanistan during the Soviet invasion and in the Soviet Union during the Cold War. its fascinating to read her story but it’s also interesting to watch her evolution from a young overweight  girl who felt unloved to a grounded spiritually centred woman is striking.

Melissa is also the author of Four Methods of Journal Writing: Finding Yourself Through Memoir, if you would like to try your own hand at it.. its a best seller on Amazon.

SAving the Wild Mustangs.

Alan Day  already owned and managed two ranches and needed a third about as much as he needed a permanent migraine: that’s what Alan Day said every time his friend pestered him about an old ranch in South AlanDayCroppedDakota. But in short order, he proudly owned 35,000 pristine grassy acres. The opportunity then dropped into his lap to establish a sanctuary for unadoptable wild horses previously warehoused by the Bureau of Land horse lover bookManagement. After Day successfully lobbied Congress, those acres became Mustang Meadows Ranch, the first government-sponsored wild horse sanctuary established in the United States.

The Horse Lover is Day’s personal history of the sanctuary’s vast enterprise, with its surprises and pleasures and its plentiful dangers, frustrations, and heartbreak. Day’s deep connection with the animals in his care is clear from the outset, as is his maverick philosophy of horse-whispering, with which he trained fifteen hundred wild horses. The Horse Lover weaves together Day’s recollections of his cowboying adventures astride some of his best horses, all of which taught him indispensable lessons about loyalty, perseverance, and hope. This heartfelt memoir reveals the Herculean task of balancing the requirements of the government with the needs of wild horses.

Raheel Raza.. Wants to Usher Islam into the 21st Century

Raheel Raza is one of the most important and interesting woman I know. She is a Sunni Muslim, Pakistani born,  wife, mother and doting grandmother, all things you would expect from a woman of her culture, and yet she is truly the epitomy of unexpected.

Living for the past 40 some odd years in Canada, Raheel has pushed the boundaries and lead the way for all woman to fight for their rights.

Today, she is the President of the Council for Muslims Facing Tomorrow, author of the book Their Jihad - Not My Jihad, award winning journalist, public speaker & advocate for human rights featured in the award-winning documentary Honor Diaries.  She is recipient of the Queen Elizabeth II Diamond Jubilee medal for service to Canada. In Dec. 2015, she helped launch the Muslim Reform Movement and is working tirelessly to open the hearts and minds of Muslim youth, politicians, and citizens around the world to the growing threat pf Radical Islam.

Raheel believes that Radical Islam is like a cancer, a disease that needs to be stamped out. However, it also needs to be discussed. Cancer kills unless it is addressed.

For over 20 years, Raheel has been working to push back the ideology of those Muslims who still live in the 7th Century and need to bring Islam into the 21st Century.

In fact, Raheel is the first Muslim Woman to lead Mixed Gender prayers.

Did you know that as much as 52 percent of the Worlds Muslims, even those in the West, hold archaic beliefs such as honor killings are OK, cutting off of limbs-hands and feet if one steals is proper justice and even those who want to leave the faith should be killed. These are not just beliefs held by the radical terrorists, these are every day Muslims, 289 Million to be exact.

So what can we do? Raheel wants us to begin to have conversations such as this. She wants us to STOP being Politically correct and understand that being called RACIST is the agenda that the actual terroists use to get us to follow their party line.

The San Bernadino shooting might have been stopped if the neighbors, who saw things that worried them, had called it in, but they didn't because they were afraid of being seen as racist.

In her documentary By the Numbers, The Untold story of Muslim Opinions and Demographics, Raheel gives us a good education of what we are going to have to deal with. This is not a conversation to take out of context to promote hatred. Not at all, instead, share this and offer a different perspective. Open your hearts, understand the needs that drive the Muslims and talk honestly about how we can stop the threat in a humanitarian way,

Child Holocaust Survivor Has a Message For the World

Lucia was born in Bochnia, Poland in 1940. Her Jewish parents perished in the Holocaust and Lucia was raised in the Catholic Church by her adopted parents the Swiateks.

Lucia loved the church and had deep and spiritual faith. When she first learned that she was Jewish, she really had no idea what that meant, beyond knowing that everyone hated the Jews.

As she grew older, Lucia began suffering anti semitism as the lone Jew in Bochnia, and eventually concluded that she would never be able to marry or have children if she stayed.

After escaping detention by Communist authorities in 1961, she immigrated to the United States and married Herman Weitzman, a Holocaust survivor and businessman raised in a mitchelltraditional Jewish family

Lucia’s life has been documented in her new book The Rose Temple written by her son Mitchell, and tells an incredible tale of survival, loss, and a love for God that would spur a spiritual search that would take her across the world several times as she sought answers to life’s most pressing questions.

Justin Hines is the kind of performer that is mesmerizing on stage and off. There really is no other way to describe his appeal.

Permanently bound to a wheel chair that he doesn't bother to hide, Justin lives with a rare genetic disorder called Larsen Syndrome. He isn't stopped by his physicality, (his joints are affected by his disease) and neither is his audience. All thoughts of disability go out the window once the music starts. His slight gravelly voice is reminicient of his idols, Jim Croce and James Taylor, and he holds his audience from the first note.

Justin is charismatic and positive and he shines from the inside out both on and off the stage with his positive and caring attitude.

Against the odds, this singer songwriter hasn't allowed physical obstacles to deter him from playing piano with 7 fingers or travelling around the world. He is a musical force that won't be slowing down anytime too soon. Justin’s latest CD came out in June and is entitled, Chasing Silver.

Debra, a wife, nurse and mother of teenage twins came to live every woman’s nightmare. Tending to her Rose Garden in the middle of a Sunny Afternoon, with her neighbors outside and her husband taking a nap, a factory worker with a crack cocaine habit, slipped through an open door and waited to attack tbis unsuspecting family.

Debra was beaten, raped, hogtied and taken away from her home. Her husband was shot and killed.

This is her tale of her 5 day ordeal at the hands of her attacker, her escape and her agonizing journey back to living and love, in this incredible tale of love, hope, determination and courage.

Today, Debra wants other victims of violence to know that there is LIFE after the psycological and emmotional death and that she is living proof that life does go on. If there ever was a testament to how Unstoppable we really are, Debra is living proof.

Rock N Roll Preacher bridges Racial Divide

Mick Jagger, meets Jack Hayford.

These are the worlds spanned by musician and Pastor Jimi Calhoun, author of "A Story of Rhythm and Grace: What the Church Can Learn from Rock and Roll about Healing the Racial Divide".

Jimi uses his experiences in both arenas to help readers dissect racial relation issues.

Before becoming a pastor, Calhoun played bass for major recording acts and performed on stage with prominent artists such as Jimi Hendrix, Etta James, Hank Williams Jr., John Lennon, and Elton John.

In his book, Jimi combines colorful illustrations from the rock-and-roll world with stories from his life as a pastor to show how he has succeeded as a bridge builder between cultures.

As he interweaves personal stories with reflections on race, Calhoun challenges Christians (and dare I say others) to reach out for racial healing and reconciliation and offers hope for racial harmony in the church and in the broader culture.

In this very special 90 minute Show, Frankie invited a panel of experts to join her to discuss the topic of Church, Religion, race and how we can heal the past and pave way for a racial harmony.

Joining her is Chad Dion Lassiter,President Black Men at Penn School of Social Work, Dr. Paula Matabane,Communications professor at Howard University and independent filmmaker, her latest Faithfully Divided, Latayne Scott, former Mormon and author of 15 books including The Mormon Mirage, Rev. David Izenbart of Living Springs Community Church, a multicultural Church. ending racism | church christianity | rock n roll and dr j | jimi calhoun and bas | frankie picasso
