Susan Sokol Blosser author of Letting Go on Motherhood Talk Radio with Sandra Beck

letting_go_new

Author Susan Sokol Blosser discusses her book Letting Go and how she energized her business by empowering her children in the family business. Listen Now: http://bit.ly/SSokolB

When women were rarely decision makers in business or agriculture, Susan Sokol Blosser, a pioneer in the Oregon wine industry, distinguished herself in both. For over three decades, Susan managed every aspect of the Sokol Blosser Winery operation. As vineyard manager from 1980-1990, she drove the tractor, did hand work (pruning, suckering, pulling leaves, and thinning the crop), and used a forklift to load grapes onto flatbed trucks. As president from 1991-2007, she saw Sokol Blosser grow to become one of the largest and most innovative Oregon wineries, with national and international distribution.

Susan was a forerunner in instituting environmentally friendly business practices at Sokol Blosser and practicing the triple bottom line concept of people, planet, profit. With its certified organic vineyard, the first LEED (US Green Building Council’s certification) certified winery building in the US, and business practices based on the Natural Step model of sustainability, the winery made social responsibility and its environmental ethic priorities, while still pursuing its vision of producing remarkable wines.

Then, at the height of her career, she did something rare in family businesses — she chose to transition control of the winery to her children. Not one to go quietly into retirement, Susan focused her energies on the local community, founding the Yamhill Enrichment Society (YES) in 2011. It was created, says Susan, “to enrich Yamhill County with projects in education and the arts, food and agriculture, history and community. YES strives to find innovation, creativity, collaboration and efficiency in all of its endeavors.” Susan holds a B.A. from Stanford University, a M.A.T. from Reed College, and an Honorary Doctorate of Public Service from the University of Portland, citing her entrepreneurship within the context of environmental and social responsibility. She’s received Lifetime Achievement Awards from Women for WineSense and the Oregon Wine Board and is a Lifetime Trustee of the Oregon Museum of Science and Industry and Marylhurst University.

She and her husband, Russ Rosner, Sokol Blosser’s Winemaker Emeritus, live in a home at the vineyard with three cats, eight chickens and a Tibetan Terrier.

Kathy Kaehler on Motherhood Talk Radio with Sandra Beck

kathy_kaehler400

Sandra Beck of Motherhood Talk Radio visits with Kathy Kaehler. Fitness Hall of Famer and nationally-recognized healthy living spokesperson. Listen now: http://bit.ly/1Kaehler

Kathy Kaehler is America’s go-to resource for the best in knowledge, products and programs, captivating audiences across the country with her exceptional combination of unparalleled knowledge and real-world experience.

“A film person is very motivated because he or she is paid to look a certain way, but it’s a lot of hard work.” While filming Batman Returns Kaehler’s client Michelle Pfeiffer exercised at 4:30 a.m. before hitting the set. Pfeiffer also worked out with Kaehler until the day she delivered her baby. As a busy mom of three boys, Kaehler particularly admires clients like Pfeiffer and Cindy Crawford, busy mothers who still make fitness a priority. Not everyone is as motivated as Pfeiffer, but Kaehler encourages all women to prioritize fitness. “Find a practical way to fit exercise into your lifestyle,” she says. But what about the common complaint that busy moms don’t have time to exercise? “Not a problem,” Kaehler says. “Just play actively with your kids.” Kaehler often kicks or throws balls with her boys outside, or she and the boys take their three Labrador Retrievers on long walks. “Playing hard is good for you and your kids. And it burns the kids out,” she laughs. “Even 10 minutes of brisk walking gets your heart rate up and re-energizes your body. At the end of the day you’ll feel less stressed and tired if you exercise.” But finding time for fitness isn’t always easy. “I just got off a plane from training a client in Las Vegas and I haven’t exercised in seven days,” Kaehler admits. “Some days you can’t do it.” But she encourages moms to try. Unlike most media personalities, Kaehler didn’t hide from TV cameras during her pregnancy and postpartum period. She traveled from California to New York until the eighth month of her twin pregnancy to appear on the Today Show. “I wanted women to realistically see what pregnancy looks like even though I gained 80 pounds with the boys and looked bloated,” she says. After delivering her twins, Kaehler was back in the limelight even though her pregnancy weight didn’t magically melt away. “I faithfully exercised and ate healthy foods, but the extra weight hung around while I was nursing my boys,” she says. Kathy kidsViewers watched Kaehler’s slow, healthy progress towards getting her figure back, and they flooded her with emails applauding her true-to-life efforts. “It made me feel good that women identified with me, and I loved helping them feel better about their own bodies,” she says. Kaehler’s figure took two years to return to normal after her twin pregnancy. “It takes time for the body to bounce back after giving birth, and that’s OK,” she says. Kaehler urges moms not to push losing weight after birth. “Give your body time to recover. Try to exercise every day, but don’t start a strict diet. Dieting creates a feeling of deprivation and leads to obsessive eating.” She teaches her kids to eat right and exercise. “I ask my boys what we did today that was good for our bodies. They might say, ‘We walked the dogs and that makes our legs strong and helps our heart. We ate broccoli to build muscles and drank milk for healthy bones.’” Giving 100 percent to family and work isn’t possible, Kaehler admits. “When something has to fall through the cracks it’s work,” she says. Although jetting off to pump iron with celebrities sounds glamorous, Kaehler would usually rather be home walking the Labs with her boys. “The boys help me push the baby, the dogs are running around in excitement and it’s chaos but it’s so much fun!” she says. – See more at: http://www.allamericanspeakers.com/celebritytalentbios/Kathy-Kaehler#sthash.YargjNvQ.dpuf

Gail Carruthers blends spirituality and business for unlimited success on Motherhood Talk Radio with Sandra Beck

Gail Carruthers

Gail Carruthers

Gail Carruthers talks about the blending of spiritual and business practices for unlimited success. Listen now: http://bit.ly/SpiritGail

Gail is a Certified Angel Communication Practitioner and is a Doreen Virtue-certified Angel Card Reader as well a level two Reiki practioner. She is a certified professional Mediator and Conflict Resolution specialist. By following the guidance of her heart and her angels Gail additionally created a children’s shoe company, called Kazowe Shoes Inc. which is a message driven company to inspire children to love their footprints they leave in the world, and to celebrate the individuals who raise, teach, mentor, and motivate today’s children to become tomorrow’s leaders. She is an adoptive mother of 3 children born in china who considers her children to be her greatest teachers.

Gail wanted to take her message further and wider though so she developed Spiritual Girlfriend an online radio show to help the spiritually hungry connect with their own divine wisdom, worthiness, courage and joy. Many women are hungry for change and substance in their lives, but the familiarity of routine, engrained behaviours and the normalacy of living unconscious all make the leap seem huge. The answer though is simpler then you think.

Listen Now: http://bit.ly/1Sukie

When Sukey Forbes lost her six-year-old daughter,
Charlotte, to a rare genetic disorder, her life felt as if it
were shattered forever. Descended from two
distinguished New England families, Forbes was raised in
a rarefied—if eccentric—life of privilege. On the family’s
private island enclave off Cape Cod, apparitions have
always been as common as the servants who once walked
the back halls. But the “afterlife” took on new meaning
once Forbes dipped into the world of clairvoyants to
reconnect with Charlotte.

Motherhood Talk Radio Hosted by Sandra Beck Welcomes the Cancer Treatment Centers of America Tuesday Sept. 11

Cancer Treatment Centers of America (CTCA) is a growing network of privately held hospitals that provide a comprehensive, fully integrated and individualized cancer treatment experience. CTCA regional destination hospitals are located in Atlanta, Chicago, Philadelphia, Phoenix and Tulsa. The CTCA growth goal is to reach more cancer patients by offering six regional hospitals located within 300 miles of approximately 80 percent of the U.S. population.

History
Cancer Treatment Centers of America was founded in 1988 by Richard J Stephenson. Stephenson was disappointed with the impersonal and insensitive cancer care his mother, Mary Brown Stephenson, received. When she lost her battle with cancer in 1982, Stephenson set out to change the face of cancer care. Stephenson's commitment to creating a truly patient-centered cancer treatment experience has been the organization's guiding principle ever since.

The Mother Standard®
CTCA promises that the treatment, quality of life and service needs of every patient will be at the center of the hearts, minds and actions of its staff every day. At CTCA, patients find accomplished physicians who specialize in caring for people living with advanced and complex cancer, along with experienced nutritionists, naturopathic doctors, mind-body therapists, spiritual counselors and other clinicians who provide quality-of-life support. Collectively they work to address the individual needs of patients, as if each patient was his or her own mother or loved one. They ask themselves: "If my mother had cancer, how would I want her to be treated?" That simple question has evolved into the CTCA Mother Standardof care, a unique, vibrant approach that delivers a complete, quality treatment experience based on what cancer patients and their families value most.

The Mother Standard of care allows CTCA clinicians to offer cancer patients the latest, evidence-based treatments to fight cancer, combined with a comprehensive array of scientifically supported complementary medical therapies to strengthen the immune system, ease side effects and improve quality of life.

Motherhood Talk Radio Continues its Women's Health Series with Cancer Survivors Mary-Ann Sullivan and Tracie Kimbrough, ACS volunteer

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck welcomes series contributor Robin Boyd, continuing their Women's Health series today focusing on Living With and Surviving Cancer.

"My name is Mary-Ann Sullivan.  I'm very grateful to wake up every day on the "right side of the grass". I am 57 years old and have only taught military children for my almost 35 years as a teacher. I have had the great fortune of teaching across the United States, accompanying my husband as he proudly served our military as a navigator for the Air Force. I am a strong supporter of our military personnel and their families, and focus much of my volunteer time on Veterans. I was initially diagnosed in 1998 and have since battled metastatic breast cancer to my lungs and my brain. When I was first diagnosed, my son was 12 and my daughter was 17. Last year, I tested positive for the BRCA gene and made the decision to have a double mastectomy with reconstruction. Through all of this my family and friends have been a great source of support and comfort. Basically, I owe my life to Massachusetts General Hospital and my faith in God."

Tracie Kimbrough is a breast cancer survivor, single mom, and a volunteer with the American Cancer Society.  Tracie has volunteered since 2008 as a Reach To Recovery Volunteer, and is also the event chair for Making Strides Against Breast Cancer of San Fernando Valley.

The American Cancer Society is a nationwide, community-based voluntary health organization dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem. Headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, the ACS has 12 chartered Divisions, more than 900 local offices nationwide, and a presence in more than 5,100 communities.  Resources are available to anyone needing support and guidance during their difficult journey.

Motherhood Talk Radio welcomes Patricia Mellor, CEO of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains

Motherhood Talk Radio welcomes Patricia Mellor, CEO of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains.

This week marks the 100th anniversary of the dream of one woman hoping to make a difference in the world.  In March of 1912, Juliette Gordon Low gathered 18 girls to begin what we now know as the Girl Scouts of the USA.  She believed that all girls should be given the opportunity to develop physically, mentally, and spiritually. Almost immediately, Juliette's dream for a girl-centered organization was realized. Today, Girl Scouts of the USA has a membership of over 3.2 million girls and adults in every residential zip code and in 90 countries. Nearly 60 million living women in the U.S. today are Girl Scout alumnae.

Series contributor Robin Boyd joins Sandra to welcome Patricia Mellor, CEO of the Girl Scouts of the Green and White Mountains Council, serving more than 15,000 girls in New Hampshire and Vermont and over 5,000 adult volunteer members.  Tricia, herself, was a girl member, achieving Girl Scouting's highest honor, the Gold Award, followed by serving as an adult leader and camp councilor.  We could also spell that "counselor", as Tricia is a member of the NH Bar Association and was a founding member of law firm, Merra, Kanakis, Creme & Mellor before becoming GSGWM's chief executive officer.

Tricia embodies the Girl Scout mission, to build girls of courage, confidence, and character, who make the world a better place.  No one can attend an event led by Tricia and not leave it ready to ignite the world!  She advocates that changing the landscape for women's leadership tomorrow means helping every girl reach her full potential today.  Every girl has a voice, and the Girl Scout's innovative leadership programs help girls discover, connect and take action as they develop strong values, a social conscience, and a deep sense of self and their potential.

This year, in a move designed to focus national attention on girls and the issues they face, Girl Scouts of the USA has announced the launch of ToGetHerThere, the largest, boldest advocacy and fundraising cause dedicated to girls' leadership in the nation's history. The multi-year effort will seek to create balanced leadership - the equal representation of women in leadership positions in all sectors and levels of society - within one generation.

We are a winemaker and an artist, we grow and produce what we love to eat and drink.

The farm and winery is named after their desire to provide a gracious and welcoming table for themselves and friends, with a cornucopia of hand-crafted food and wine. Ambitious as it is, they have launched a winery and are establishing a working farm, where they raise pasture poultry, pigs, cows, and egg-laying chickens. Brian and Clare also keep a large garden, working towards a managed intensive grazing system of farming that builds the soil, sequesters carbon, and moves towards a healthy, sustainable and diverse farm.

In addition to partnering with Brian to market the wine and manage their 70 acres, Clare is also a painter and wine label designer. Clare's fine art is represented in Galleries in San Francisco and Sonoma and now in Carlton OR. Clare has designed wine labels for over 50 wineries from Oregon, California and Washington. Motherhood Talk Radio Begins Its Series on Cancer Survival with Carole St. Jean and the Norris Cotton Cancer Center, Jan. 10

Host Sandra Beck and series contributor Robin Boyd present the first in their series on Cancer Survival, highlighting success stories for inspiration and resources to empower you through your journey.

Motherhood Talk Radio welcomes Carole St. Jean of Hooksett, New Hampshire.  Carole is a three-time breast cancer survivor, and is the utmost example of hope personified.  Each bout of cancer brought out a different strength in Carole; having to dig deeper into her soul and coming up with what it takes to make it through and survive.  Networking with someone who was going through the same thing, Carole says, was critical in getting her through it all.  Carole is married, a mother of two grown and married children with five grandchildren whom she is thankful each day to be healthy and able to baby sit for.

Also joining us on today's show will be a representative from the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Norris Cotton Cancer Center which is one of the nation's premier facilities for cancer treatment and research. It is one of only 40 National Cancer Institute designated comprehensive cancer centers in the United States.  Our discussion will include managing the side effects during cancer treatment.

Motherhood Talk Radio is co-hosted by Sandra Beck, and contributors Christy Holly, Robin Boyd, Linda Franklin, Doris Rivas Brekke, Danee Kiernan, Susan Haid, Lisa Detres and Suzann Sladcik Wilson, hosted by Toginet Radio and powered by Motherhood Incorporated.  Motherhood Talk Radio would like to thank our guest who have spoken with respect to motherhood on the following topics: women's issues, parenting, relationship advice, personal growth, divorce, marriage, dating, weddings, relationships, health care, pet health, crafting, beading, relationship advice, cooking, family matters, care packages for soldiers, nutrition, child adoption, children with brain injuries, children's advocacy, autism, cancer, eldercare issues, child care issues, personal growth and parenting issues.

Motherhood Talk Radio welcomes Lia Colabello of Ecohashi, Dec.6th

WHAT IS ECOHASHI?  It's a fun and fashionable cloth napkin wrapped around reusable bamboo chopsticks.  When it's time to eat, reach for your ecohashi instead of disposable chopsticks or plastic utensils.  After using, toss ecohashi in the washing machine and the chopsticks in the sink.

WHY ECOHASHI?  Every year, 63 billion disposable chopsticks are manufactured, using 25 million trees.  Most of them ultimately end up in landfills, generating tons of waste.  ecohashi was inspired by the growing movement launched by Greenpeace China to BYOC (bring your own chopsticks).  Our mission is to provide small ways to make a big impact.

ECOHASHI is a proud supporter of the Hawaii Foodbank.  This holiday season, for every ecohashi purchased at Red Pineapple in Ward Center or online at www.ecohashi.net, we will donate $1 to the Hawaii Foodbank.  Over 55,000 children in Hawaii are food insecure.  $1 will provide two meals for them.

Achieving clarity in all 5 carats insures she will shine just like a perfect-cut diamond.

The Real Cougar woman realizes that she, and she alone, is responsible for everything in her life.   Just like an artist, she sits in front of a blank canvas every day and creates her reality.

Being a 5-carat diamond allows her to be:

  • A woman who isn't afraid to knock down walls and crash through glass ceilings.
  • A woman who adores men but refuses to be defined by the age of the man she chooses to be with.
  • A woman who goes inside herself for the answers.
  • A woman who knows how to keep her body healthy, her beauty radiant and her spiritual reservoir full.
  • A woman who puts financial freedom high on her priority list.

Linda retells her story, "Every woman, whether she realizes it or not, has a Real Cougar just waiting to be unleashed. Living your life as a smart, sexy, independent woman is the best gift you can give yourself. So get over listening to what other people think you should do and start living the life you deserve.  This is the time to let go of your preconceived notions about aging, about sexuality, about beauty, about relationships with money, and give yourself permission to explore all of your possibilities.

I know many women think that a cougar is a derogatory word used to describe women who  prefer younger men.  Nothing could be further from the truth. A Real Cougar, a term I coined in 2007, is any woman over 40 who is turned on and excited about life.

The Real Cougar Woman is a fabulous female who is reconstructing the role of women today and will continue to do so for many years to come.

Achieving the rank of Real Cougar is a privilege, never an embarrassment.  You have worked hard to earn your stripes, so be proud to revel in your accomplishments.  For far too long, women over 40 have been pushed to the sidelines. You are mothers, business executives, entrepreneurs and teachers. You are a million things, but not the complete woman you have always wanted to be.  Now is the time to change all that.

Now is the time to realize your brilliance.  If not now - when?

I was born inToronto,Canada and moved toNew York Cityin my early twenties.  Never having finished college, I worked as a secretary because that's all I thought I was qualified to do.

Wall Street in the late 70's was not a woman friendly environment but I used that to my advantage.  At age 28 I walked into my boss's office and asked to work in the firm's trading department.  He said yes, but it came with a very big caveat.  He said, "make it or be fired".  That challenge made me determined to succeed and I did.  I was the first Canadian woman to own a seat on The New York Stock Exchange and then went on to manage this leading investment firm's all male trading department.

Then at 48 my life changed drastically.  Due to a number of circumstances I decided to leave Wall Street.  That transition was a devastating blow to my psyche.  I didn't realize how much of my identity I had attached to my work.  Retirement had never been a thought in my mind and I  had no idea of how to cope with not having a good reason to get up in the morning.

When I could no longer stand wallowing in self pity, I made the conscious decision to take back my power and my life. Over the next two years, I went on a quest to find the answers that would help me with my relationships, maintaining a healthy body, looking fabulous, starting a new career and filling my spiritual reservoir.   That journey, as tough as it was, turned out to be a blessing.  It re-ignited my passion and allowed me to get excited about act two of my life.

Wanting to share what I had learned I started a blog.  People ask me all the time why I decided to call it the The Real Cougar Woman.

It wasn't planned - it just happened after I started to read a slew of unflattering articles about women over 40.  They were being called "cougars", and portrayed as predators on the prowl for young men. This negative spin upset me and  I wanted to focus on the many virtues of real women not the media's idea of women over 40.  So I coined the term Real Cougar as  my way of celebrating our age, our accomplishments, our independence, and our passion for life.  I make it clear that a Real Cougar refuses to be defined by the age of the man she chooses to be with.  Today, three years later I am still doing everything I can to make "cougar" a designer label that women all over the world are proud to wear.

My best selling book Don't Ever Call Me Ma'am! - The Real Cougar Guidebook for Life After 40 is helping me to expand my message.  It has important information that every woman needs to read.  I have also included inspiring stories from other fabulous females that truly warmed my heart.  It let me know we are all together on this journey through time.

My newest initiative is "The Combat Cougars". This is my outreach to support women in the military.  Like most worthwhile ventures it wasn't planned.  After receiving emails from military women 'combat cougars' who felt empowered after reading my blog - the path seemed obvious."

Sandra and Christy also welcomes Lynette Lovelace, Lifetherapy Choose Your Mood to today's show.

"Choose Your Mood", is the philosophy behind Lynette Lovelace's new lifestyle brand, Lifetherapy.   Lovelace combined her spirit, enthusiasm for life, and 20 years of harnessing her inner gifts and created a line of luxury apothecary products inspired by the therapeutic powers of fragrance and mood.  Based on the simple yet influential notion of "Choosing Your Mood," Lifetherapy aims to encompass the various experiences of life (such as love, hardship, glory, serenity) while arousing the senses and allowing an escape from everyday life.

If you could capture the moments of your personal journal, your life, how would you go about doing that?  How could you bottle the words, stage the emotion, record the memories, translate the ideas and play the dreams?

Imagine Lifetherapy...

Lovelace encourages those around her to imagine their lives as a journal, keeping in mind that every soul is unique. She has relentlessly filled her journals of life with ideas, creativity, moods and inspiration.  Some journals have lines that define text, others are blank and allow for limitless expression; some remain empty yet alive with thoughts, intentions and daydreams, while others explode with sketches, intricate memories and quotes of loved ones.

Lifetherapy captures the very essence of what Lovelace has been journaling her whole life....  an uncanny ability to effortlessly enhance a mood, create a feeling or awaken one's senses with all that she embraces. With past accomplishments in the luxury boutique/restaurant sector, she earned the title as a retail and product visionary.  With great admiration, Lovelace has moved on through two concept properties where she equally created an ambiance and vision that most can't dream of.  At either venue, one could escape into a world where every wall and corner could lend a discovery about oneself or a hidden treasure.   While sourcing the finest products along with perfectly paired food and wines her undeniable talents were all magical parts of the journal.

Her life's work has now led her to bring the Lifetherapy brand from the pages of her journal to an exciting reality. Lovelace finds beauty in life's simple details and offers us an outlet for self expression and indulgences.  Fragrance is a highly personal choice, as the briefest hint of a certain aroma can transport us to a completely different time and place.

Lovelace states her intentions naming her fragrances: Play, Vacation, Escape, Chill, and Flirt.  Products range from everyday hand crèmes, to pulse point oil roll-on perfumes, ultra rich body crèmes, hydrating body lotions and skin nourishing body scrubs.  These unexpected and lively scents correlate specifically with mood and are named in theory with how this synergy translates into fragrance.  Understanding that with each new day we change our mood, Lovelace encourages us to discover that "fragrance is more than what we wear; it's how we feel when we wear it."  She has also recently created a jewellery division within Lifetherapy.  The first products are Positivity in ColorTM 100% silk wrap bracelets.  There are 12 colors of bracelets.  Each one represents a different strength and protection based on the meaning of each color.

As a wife, a mother of two, and a genuine friend, Lovelace hopes to positively benefit the world around her, starting one person at a time.  Her story continues, and she reminds us that "mood is a choice, your feelings are contagious, and there has never been another you."

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Doris Rivas-Brekke, welcomes Laura Garber of Cinderalla 11pm

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Doris Rivas-Brekke, welcomes Laura Garber of Cinderalla 11pm.

Cinderella11pm.com is all about bringing magic into women's everyday lives. It is a blog where they celebrate everyone's inner princess.

Cinderella11pm.com is a place you go to be listened to and appreciated for all of things you do and are!  It is about uncovering, discovering and experiencing the magic in everyday life; as well as sharing about the occasional frog that no amount of kissing will turn into a prince.

There are posts about tantalizing travel destinations, good food, and shared thoughts on everything from gratitude to books, movies and music. It is a place to make new friends and lots of room for you to leave your comments on the posts that move you.

The blog was created from Laura's own experiences.  She used blogging to help get through a particularly tough time-eventually moving from just surviving to really thriving. She made amazing connections with people around the world and found out that many others were going through similar situations to her.  They shared their thoughts, fears, hopes and even dreams.

It really made a difference for her.

Laura wanted to pay it forward, and from that http://cinderella11pm.com/ was born. Laura, a veteran blogger, originally started blogging in 2003 on women's issues but she wanted to do something more and something more directly from the heart.

http://cinderella11pm.com/ is a portal that brings women together, lets women know they are not alone, helps us hope, and reminds us to remember our dreams.  It is even a place where wishes are granted.

Military Moms struck a particular chord with Laura due to the service and sacrifice these women make for our country.  In one of her recent posts Laura spoke about the choices we make and how we live out our Karma.  Laura feels Moms who put serving our country first, make a choice that she wants to honor.

By Motherhood Talk RadioMotherhood Incorporated

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck and Robin Boyd, and Rick Swanson, welcomes  Janet Perez Eckles author of Simply Salsa - Dancing without Fear at God's Fiesta.

As a young girl, Janet packed dreams and expectations when she left Bolivia to come to America. She found not only wonder and beauty in her new life, but also the challenge to overcome trials-physical blindness, marital infidelity, financial devastation, the loss of her son and the acquittal of the man responsible.

But rather than despair, Christ's love ushered victory for each battle, giving her wisdom to overcome adversity, rekindling her zeal for life and ushering peace for each moment. These victories sparked her mission to inspire and encourage others. As a bilingual Spanish inspirational speaker, she ignites in her audiences the same passion to triumph, to find purpose in life and achieve professional and personal success.

Janet earned her bachelor's degree in Business Administration from Southeast Missouri State University. After graduation, she met Gene, her husband of 35 years. They live in Orlando, FL where they enjoy their sons, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren.

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Doris Rivas Brekke present Anita Mellott author of School is Where the Home Is: 180 Devotions for Parents

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck , Christy Holly and Doris Rivas-Brekke, welcomes  Anita Mellott author of School is Where the Home Is: 180 Devotions for Parents.

Anita grew up in India, climbing mango trees, and devouring books and mangoes. With a post-graduate degree in journalism and mass communications in hand, she moved to Canadato major in communications and culture at the University of Windsor. A brief stint in advertising and P.R. followed when I returned toIndia. She soon moved on to teaching journalism at her alma mater-a time she still treasures. She worked for 13 years as a writer/editor with Habitat for Humanity International.

A few years ago, while riding the emotional roller coaster of a high-risk pregnancy after almost 10 years of infertility, a whisper sounded in her heart: "Write to encourage others." That whisper soon grew to a crescendo. Now most days find her doing a balancing act between homeschooling and writing.

Life's ups and downs have included job loss, the death of loved ones an ocean away, chronic illness, and infertility. Despite a recent diagnosis of ankylosing spondylitis, a degenerative auto-immune disorder, she believes and has experienced that "though weeping may last for the night, joy comes in the morning." So she continues to write and speak of hope in spite of life's challenges. You can find her at www.anitamellott.com .

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcome Tait and Lauren Zimmerman and The Little Tait Foundation for Preemie Aid, July 5th

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcome Tait and Lauren Zimmerman and The Little Tait Foundation for Preemie Aid.

The Little Tait Foundation for Preemies is a non-profit organization founded to help those who believe it is the responsibility of private communities and the body of Christ, not of the State through tax-funded welfare programs, to meet these needs. Your donations will be applied to the intended needs with minimum overhead, rather than trickling through multiple layers of bureaucracy. Funds go directly to the specific doctor, hospital, or other medical care provider, after standard negotiations and reductions have been made.

Tait and Lauren Zimmerman were married May 3, 2008. A month later, they joyfully found out they were expecting their first child! Six months into her pregnancy, Lauren went into labor. During the rushed drive to the midwife's, and the ensuing 40-mile ambulance ride to the hospital in Anchorage, the young couple offered up many prayers for the safety of both mother and baby.

Tait received a call from the midwife en route informing him that there was no reversing the labor at that point, and that his new son or daughter would be born that day. The couple's midwife tried to prepare Tait for all possible outcomes, and just prior to the emergency C-section, Tait and Lauren committed their soon-to-be-born child's life to the Lord in prayer.

Tait Edward Zimmerman, Jr. was born November 6, 2008, a 27-week preemie, weighing just 2 pounds 9 ounces and measuring 14 inches long. Amazingly, Little Tait was breathing on his own, though he did need significant breathing assistance over the next few months. Little Tait spent the first three months of his life in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Children's Hospital at Providence in Anchorage, AK, connected to numerous feeding and oxygen tubes, wires, leads, and IV's.

These three months were filled with strange new medical terms, and a whole education in newborn intensive care. Tait and Lauren found themselves looking forward to unusual milestones - the removal of an IV, their son's first feeding (from a syringe through a feeding tube), removal of the bili light and accompanying goggles, higher oxygen saturations, closure of his heart's PDA valve, fewer apnea events, progression from the CPAP to cannula, graduation to an open crib, satisfactory weight gains, first oral feeding, and first time momentarily disconnected from the plethora of cords, wires, and tubes.

While these long months were some of the most difficult of Tait's and Lauren's lives, the Lord used them as a time of immense growth and provided daily opportunities to share their family's hope and vision with many of Little Tait's kind caretakers.

Early in Little Tait's stay, Tait and Lauren were approached by social workers, informing them that - because of their son's low birth weight - Medicaid would automatically cover their hospital bills in full, as well as partially cover meals, lodging, transportation, and any future therapies. While it was definitely a tempting option to just sign their son's substantial bill off to the taxpayers, and while social workers raised many arguments in favor of the government programs, Tait and Lauren sought counsel and stood firm on their pre-marriage commitment to not accept government welfare; instead, they sought to cover the costs on their own and with any help the Lord might send through private support.

By God's grace, and through help from the body of Christ, they were able to raise $51,000 in 60 days to cover Little Tait's neonatology bill. The hospital bill is still under negotiation.

Little Tait finally came home on February 6, his three-month birthday, two days after his due date, weighing 8 pounds 15 ounces. Today, he is a healthy, happy, energetic 2 ½-year old who brings constant joy to his parents. He loves playing with his best friend and brother Miles (20 months), and adores his newest little brother Matthew (born May 25th). Tait and Lauren are so thankful to the Lord for all He has done in and through their precious son's life, and pray that Little Tait would grow up to be a mighty man of God.

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Rick Swanson present Tracey Costan of Best Belly, June 28

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Rick Swanson present Tracey Costan of Best Belly

Tracey first started taking belly dance classes in 1998 at Anisa's School of Dance in Sherman Oaks. From the very beginning, she fell in love with music, the costumes and the dance itself. With no prior formal dance training she trudged along trying to keep up with all the dance moves and the timing  but after a few months, I got the hang of it and was taking up to 3 classes a week.

She eventually started performing in restaurants and bellydance events throughout Southern California while always taking dance workshops at UCLA and at the dance school by visiting professional dancers from around the world. She danced even through her pregnancies and eventually moved out to Acton 5 years ago and began teaching classes out of her home. "

"I have been teaching enrichment classes at the local schools for 2 years now and enjoy teaching  this age group. I try to incorporate  a unique style of modern Egyptian, Arabic and Spanish dance moves into my choreographies. I like using a variety of music, dance moves and musicians for performances. My goal is to teach this very feminine, beautiful and difficult dance in a community that has never experienced this before," Tracey shared recently.

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcomes Rona Brynin and the Fit to Strip Challenge June 14

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcomes  Rona Brynin and the Fit to Strip Challenge.

It's been a few months since we last checked in with Sandra, Christy and Rick. The trio will discuss the myths and truths about emotional eating and how finding a constructive way to deal with your feelings can lead to a successful weight loss and maintenance.

Sandra and Rick will talk candidly about their successes and failures during the past two months since they have met with Rona.

When you're happy, your food of choice could be steak or pizza, when you're sad it could be ice cream or cookies, and when you're bored it could be potato chips. Food does more than fill our stomachs -- it also satisfies feelings, and when you quench those feelings with comfort food when your stomach isn't growling, that's emotional eating.

"Emotional eating is eating for reasons other than hunger," says Jane Jakubczak, a registered dietitian at the University of Maryland. "Instead of the physical symptom of hunger initiating the eating, an emotion triggers the eating."

Giving up cookies helps. So does swimming an extra lap or two in the pool. But no matter how religiously you diet and exercise, experts say, you'll never make a permanent change to a healthier lifestyle without the right attitude. Elaine Wicks of Canastota, N.Y., knows that all too well. At 195 pounds, it took a major shift in how she looked at herself -- and how she felt -- to make a change. "Attitude, and the supportive attitude of the people around you ... is such a major part of weight...

What are the telltale signs of emotional eating, what foods are the most likely culprits when it comes to emotional eating, and how it can be overcome?

How to Tell the Difference

There are several differences between emotional hunger and physical hunger, according to the University of Texas Counseling and Mental Health Center web site:

1. Emotional hunger comes on suddenly; physical hunger occurs gradually.

2. When you are eating to fill a void that isn't related to an empty stomach, you crave a specific food, such as pizza or ice cream, and only that food will meet your need. When you eat because you are actually hungry, you're open to options.

3. Emotional hunger feels like it needs to be satisfied instantly with the food you crave; physical hunger can wait.

4. Even when you are full, if you're eating to satisfy an emotional need, you're more likely to keep eating. When you're eating because you're hungry, you're more likely to stop when you're full.

5. Emotional eating can leave behind feelings of guilt; eating when you are physically hungry does not.

Comfort Foods

When emotional hunger rumbles, one of its distinguishing characteristics is that you're focused on a particular food, which is likely a comfort food.

"Comfort foods are foods a person eats to obtain or maintain a feeling," says Brian Wansink, PhD, director of the Food and Brand Lab at the University of Illinois. "Comfort foods are often wrongly associated with negative moods, and indeed, people often consume them when they're down or depressed, but interestingly enough, comfort foods are also consumed to maintain good moods."

Ice cream is first on the comfort food list. After ice cream, comfort foods break down by sex: For women it's chocolate and cookies; for men it's pizza, steak, and casserole, explains Wansink.

And what you reach for when eating to satisfy an emotion depends on the emotion. According to an article by Wansink, published in the July 2000 American Demographics, "The types of comfort foods a person is drawn toward varies depending on their mood. People in happy moods tended to prefer ... foods such as pizza or steak (32%). Sad people reached for ice cream and cookies 39% of the time, and 36% of bored people opened up a bag of potato chips."

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Rick Swanson present Kerika Fields, author of He’s Gone, You’re Back!

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcomes Kerika Fields, author of He's Gone, You're Back!

For over fifteen years Kerika Fields worked as a Writer and Event Photographer in NYC, having her articles and images published in The Amsterdam News, BELLE Magazine, Black Elegance, Black Issues Book Review, Caribbean Life, City and Suburban StylesThe Daily News, Savoy, The Source, Spice!, Variety and Vibe.

Finally, after a terrible yet transformative breakup, she decided to pursue her dream of becoming a published author and wrote "He's Gone...You're Back!" while raising her daughter in Brooklyn, NY. Her hard-earned life lessons are on the pages for you, with the implicit purpose of helping you realize your dreams, reach your full potential, and love yourself dynamically despite relationship disappointments and setbacks.

In fact, it is Kerika's philosophy that a breakup can be a transformative time as it encourages self reflection, growth and the freedom to be fearless  when it comes to relationships and all other aspects of your life. It worked for Kerika! After her breakup she started the ARRC Foundation with her family, finally finished her undergraduate degree, and wrote this book. Since the book's publication, she has gone on to become a sought after relationship expert appearing on The Tom Joyner Morning Show, Foz and Tina in the Morning, Drive Time Live with Lady K, and Khloe Kardashian's Khloe After Dark.

"I was inspired to write this book because I looked around at the books about breakups--the funny books, the sad books, the witty books, the edgy books--but there were no holistic books on breakups. And so I went ahead and wrote a holistic book on break ups that I think happens to be funny, sad, witty and a little edgy, too! My book's information and insight will show readers how to let go of past pain and move forward with their lives in positive and productive ways."

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcomes Linda Franklin of the Real Cougar Woman

Motherhood Talk Radio hosted by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly, and Rick Swanson, welcomes Linda Franklin of the Real Cougar Woman

The Real Cougar Woman is a 5-carat diamond with each of the 5-carats representing an essential facet of her life.   The 5-carats are:  health, beauty, relationships, finance and spirituality.

Every woman, whether she realizes it or not, has a Real Cougar just waiting to be unleashed.

I was born in Toronto, Canada and moved to New York City in my early twenties.

After receiving emails from military women 'combat cougars' who felt empowered after reading my blog - the path seemed obvious.

Motherhood Talk Radio presents Facebook, Social Depression and When Thou Feelest Like A Bitch by Sandra Beck, Christy Holly and Rick Swanson. March 15

Why, Rick asks Why?  Why do you write what I say as an aside in the headline. As we write Rick is tweaking his tresses.  His advice to us today is don't dye your hair magenta when you feel like you need a glow.  And Christy, well she's wondering what's going to be on the show today as she hurtles up the California freeway in her giant gas guzzling SUV.  And Sandra, well she's in a mood because every muscle in her body hurts after training one-on-one with the local karate instructor who thinks sprawls are a great way to get into bikini summer body shape. All Sandra knows is some idiot kicked her in the arm and now she has a giant bruise that clashes with her new blue bikini.

Christy and Sandra are ramping up the workout in prepartion for their Las Vegas trip in April. But don't ask either of them about it because they are both so hungry and crappy from dieting that they will rip your face off for lunch.  Tune in to hear more...if you dare.

Motherhood Talk Radio Presents Chef Tracy Fleming of Stewart and Clark Fine Foods, January 11th

Chef Tracy Fleming left L.A and her career with Nestle in their test kitchen to start her own food business in late 1997.  She opened Ocean View Sweets in 1997 with her amazing Chocolate Espresso Truffle Cookies, Cranberry White Chocolate, Peanut Butter Chip with Toasted Peanuts and Milk Chocolate Chunk, having crafted their recipes in Santa Barbara in a rented kitchen.

Tracy's mother, Lisa Fleming, joined her shortly thereafter with a crazy notion to make Handmade Marshmallows, initially intending to sell them locally. Lisa's long career as a food stylist (beginning at CBS in 1952) and Tracy's experience as her assistant for many years along with 10 years as a caterer in Los Angeles gave them many skills to make their products beautiful and inviting.

In January 2000, Saveur Magazine did a piece listing them as #3 in their top 100 products of the year. Soon they heard form the New York Times, Dean & Deluca, Esquire Magazine and many others. A move in 2000 to the Santa Ynez Valley provided a kitchen of their own as their business grew.  The Food Network featured the mother/daughter team on "Food Finds" which first aired in May of 2001. Customers began calling us from almost every state in the country.

Then something happened that no one could have expected. Lisa, at the far too young age of 69, found out that she had cancer and in April of 2004 lost her valiant battle with the disease. It was very difficult for Tracy to know how to proceed. Lisa had been her inspiration for her food career and still is the single biggest influence in her path in this life of food. Ocean View Sweets wavered a bit and took a few steps back. It was 2 years before Tracy mastered the marshmallows. After much thought, great consideration and a year at the Cordon Bleu Institute in Los Angeles, Stewart and Clark Fine Foods rose out of Ocean View Sweets and began refreshed and ready for a rearranged path. The name Stewart and Clark comes from Tracy's and her husband’s middle names. It’s simple, easy to remember and can go anywhere.

In 2009. Stewart and Clark Fine Foods moved into a new kitchen in San Luis Obispo, CA about 40 minutes North of Los Olivos; and area which they love. To honor Tracy's mother, Stewart and Clark Fine Foods maintain “Mama Lisa” and “OVS” references everywhere. The name Stewart and Clark may be newer but the base of the company has its roots firmly planted in Ocean View Sweets and Santa Barbara County. They feel their good fortune now comes from all the groundwork of Tracy and her mother's history.

With a book on the way, managing her catering, and co-owning Fiero Cafe with her husband, Glenn, Chef Tracy is as busy as ever, feeling fortunate to be in a great place and with the devotion to feeding her customers the best of what she can produce.  To find out more about Chef Tracy's story, visit www.stewartandclark.com or check out their blog and Fiero Cafe specials at www.stewartandclark.tv.

Motherhood Talk Radio Presents Carolyn Blashek of Operation Gratitude, November 23

Carolyn Blashek is the founder of Operation Gratitude, the California- based 501 (c) (3) non-profit, volunteer organization that annually sends 100,000+ care packages of snacks, entertainment items and personal letters of appreciation addressed to individually named U.S. Service Members deployed in hostile regions such as Iraq and Afghanistan, and on military ships at sea.  Its mission is to lift morale, bring a smile to a service member’s face and to express to all our Armed Forces the appreciation and support of the American people.   Since its inception in March, 2003, Operation Gratitude has shipped more than 550,000 packages to American service members deployed overseas.

After 9-11, Blashek felt a passionate desire to help fight the war on terrorism. Although then a 46-year-old mother of two, her first thought was to join the Military. She quickly found out she was too old for duty and started volunteering at the military lounge in the Los Angeles airport. One day in March 2003, a soldier came into the office and broke down at her desk. He was on emergency leave from a war zone to bury his mother, his wife had left him and his only child had died as an infant–he had no one else in his life. “I’m going back over there; I don’t think I’ll make it back this time, but it really doesn’t matter because no one would even care” he told her. Right then Blashek realized that when bullets are flying, it’s critical for troops to know that someone cares about them as an individual. That’s when Operation Gratitude was born.

Carolyn Blashek, Operation Gratitude, Support for troops, care packages for troops, Motherhood Talk Radio, Sandra Beck, Christy Holly

Since starting Operation Gratitude in 2003, Blashek has devoted herself full time, as a volunteer, to the development and direction of the organization.  In January, 2008, at the invitation of the Commanding General, Blashek personally delivered the 300,000th package, containing the keys to a new Jeep Liberty, to a Soldier deployed in Northern Iraq.  First Lady Michelle Obama, Dr. Jill Biden and 25 members of Congress and the Obama Administration joined Blashek and 12,000 Operation Gratitude volunteers on January 19, 2009, the National Day of Service, to assemble 85,000 care kits for Operation Gratitude packages

Blashek was born and raised in Manhattan.  Following graduation from Barnard College in 1976 and Columbia Law School in 1979, she moved to Los Angeles with her husband and fellow-law school classmate, Robert.  Together they raised two children (Jenna, 25 and Jordan, 23), two dogs and several cats.

Motherhood Talk Radio Presents Lisa Kamen, Harvesting Happiness - Aug. 31

Independent filmmaker Lisa Kamen produced the 10-minute short, “A Passage Through India—Diamonds in the Rough,” for her bachelor’s degree and used it successfully to raise funds for the Sulaxmi School for Girls in Lucknow, India, which her family now supports. While biking through Northern India, Kamen was struck by how, even in the presence of extreme poverty, the Indian people could express joy and genuine happiness. This is the genesis for Lisa’s master’s thesis in Spiritual Psychology—a documentary film she is co-creating with her nine year-old daughter, Kayla, who operates the camera. Together they explore the hypothesis that every person, regardless of socioeconomic level, age, ethnicity, career, health, or life circumstances, possesses happiness or the means to feel happy. Their endeavor to discover possibly universal keys to human happiness leads the duo on an entertaining, deeply touching documentary adventure.

Using the spontaneity of man-on-the-street style interviewing, Lisa and Kayla ask prospective interviewees to contribute their heartprint to a G-rated documentary film exploring the nature of happiness. Mother and daughter have logged hundreds of interviews to date, filming all kinds of people, each for about 60 seconds, responding to one question that elicits the essence of happiness and joy for that individual. These one-minute heartprint interviews have been filmed in diverse locales around India and in the United States including Central Park, Ground Zero, bus stations, homeless shelters, fire and police stations, schools for the deaf, independent living centers, jail, hospitals, houses of worship, a funeral home, people in commuter traffic, in lines, in labor, in escrow, and in debt—and the filming continues…

The film’s point of view is through the eyes of nine year-old Kayla. Her unique perspective—literally about four feet from the ground—means a low camera angle combines with high energy and humor. Her presence, suited up with professional camera equipment and headset, monitoring her sound levels and video, seems to soften interviewees, making their revelations especially genuine. A second camera operator captures the interchange between interviewee, Kayla, and Lisa, accentuating the multiplier effect of happiness on others.  Experts and lay people alike see ample evidence that wealth, fame, and material goods don’t produce real happiness. In “H-Factor…Where is Your Heart?” real people from all walks of life illustrate—in humorous and heartfelt ways—what does.

Motherhood Talk Radio Presents Bob Woolsey, Advocate For Women, Aug. 3rd

Bob Woolsey graduated from the University of Northern Colorado in 1978 with a major in Speech Communications. He then joined the U.S. Coast Guard where he served with several honors. He has owned internet companies, manufacturing and unique companies who under Bob’s tutelage became very successful and some not so successful. His most successful company is a week long acting camp for children between the ages of 5 and 12 with camp all around the western part of the country.

Bob Woolsey, Women Are Our Future, Advocacy for WomenHe has made movies, been an actor, professor and a paralegal. He has given speeches ranging from acting in film to film history to the future of new media. Recently, he has been speaking about the virtues of women running the world.

He was sexually abused as a child.  He has spoken to over 100,000 people on the issues and has sat down and spoke to over 1,000 women one to one regarding this issue. He understands what has gone on with those who are first victims then survivors and then hopefully thrivers. He speaks at colleges regarding this issue as well.

His mother helped raise a young man who was on the both debate team and the rape crisis team in college.  Bob is also one of the few males who know where most of the women’s battered shelters are located.

Bob believes if women ran the world rather than rule it, we would have a better place to live. He believes women have the ability to share, respect and speak the truth.

Paul Petersen, formerly an actor with the Donna Reed Show and now a child advocate says this of Bob, “When Bob Woolsey feels the need to rally the troops around a just cause it's a good idea to pay attention. Core issues that affect us all are on Bob's table, and none more important than the Gender Issue.

Motherhood Talk Radio Staff Get Challenged by Nutritionist Rona Brynin - July 13

Christy Holly, Rick Swanson, Sandra Beck of Motherhood Talk Radio
(Los Angeles ) Tune in July 13th at 3pm pst at www.toginet.com or check Motherhood Talk Radio out at www.itunes.com. The good, the bad and the ugly will be revealed as Christy Holly, Rick Swanson and Sandra Beck talk about how they are doing in the 1st annual summer Fit to Strip Challenge.

Last week we heard the girls talk about fitting into summer clothes and feeling good at swim parties and bbq’s. Stupid Diet Guy was on hand to lend the man’s point of view and was summarily dismissed by the girls because he eats what he wants and doesn’t gain a pound. The girls struggle with balancing time to work out and their children – while Stupid Diet Guy merrily heads to the gym unencumbered.

This week however, the trio is called to the carpet about their Taco Bell, Jack in the Box and Wendy’s visits along with a check in regarding their diet soda habits by nutritionist, trainer and college professor Rona Brynin. All four make their home in Acton, California a rural horse community outside of Los Angeles.

Tune in each week at 3pm pst on Toginet.com or catch up with the show on itunes or www.MotherhoodTalkRadio.com where you can hear the podcasts. Motherhood Talk Radio is powered by Motherhood Incorporated and hosted by Toginet Radio.

Motherhood Talk Radio Presents Nicole Schwartz, Co-Parenting Mom - May 25

Nicole Schwartz lives in Acton, CA with her husband Jon of 9+ years and their 2 children.  Jagger is 7 and Josie is 2.  Graduating from Simi Valley High and then attending Moorpark City College, Nicole completed her AA degree in business.

When she and Jon decided to start a family their number 1 priority was for one of them to be home with the children at all times.  Jon works at night and Nicole works for a family business selling “Employee Benefits”, medical, dental, life insurance to employers.

Nicole was able to bring both kids to work with her a day or two during the week until they reached about 2 years old.  Now she works from home one day a week.  Their parenting philosophy is based on children needing stability at home.  They admit "co-parenting" requires a lot of patience (and sometimes a bit of wine) but so worth it all.

Motherhood Talk Radio Urges You to Speak Up for Education and Kids

Motherhood Talk Radio is asking listeners to support Speak Up for Education and Kids. Many of our mothers at Motherhood Incorporated are teachers, owner and founder Sandra Beck taught private post secondary education for many years and is fully supportive of programs that educate and enlighten our leaders of tomorrow.

Our children’s quality education is under threat from budget cuts-- music and arts programs, bus routes, sports, extracurricular activities, books, crossing guards, special needs, gifted and talented and foreign language programs are all on the cutting block--and teacher layoffs could mean perhaps as many as 35 or 45 students per classroom.

Please show support of teachers on May 26, 2010 for Speak Up for Education & Kids Campaign to support #EducationJobsFund. It’s a National Call-in Day of action 1-866-608-6355 please tell our national education leaders to stop cuts to teachers they only hurt our schools – check out this site… http://bit.ly/9VNbuB.

Budget cuts are not the answer!   Students need individual attention, not crowded classrooms and fewer educators, to succeed in the 21st century and help keep America competitive.

It’s not just failing schools that need our help!!  Gwen Samuel, the Mom Congress Delegate from Connecticut is fighting to keep a top 10 HIGH PERFORMANCE school OPEN.  It serves over 70% minority, 20% ESL, 10% disabilities and it is on the chopping block to close!  We need your help to get the message out to parents to get involved!!

Guest Lisa Cypers Kamen, What is Your Happiness

Together Lisa and Kayla explore the hypothesis that every person, regardless of socioeconomic level, age, ethnicity, career, health, or life circumstances, possesses happiness or the means to feel happy.

From homeless person to housewife, from celebrity to politician, many interviewed have said they never gave themselves the space to invite such a question in. Consequently, in this rare moment seized for the sole purpose of exploring happiness, they create room for this intangible feeling and find surprisingly easy access to it.

The film’s POV is through the eyes of nine year-old Kayla.
