May 26th Guests: Karen O'Neill & Dallas Woodburn: Inspiring Our Young Students Today

Karen O'Neill is a fourth grade teacher at Sidwell Friends School, and independent Quaker PK-12 school in Washington, D.C. This is her ninth year teaching at the elementary school level after having been an investment banker for the prior 16 years. She moved to D.C. from New York city with her husband Stephen in 2003 and has two young children, Jack and Sam.
 

 

 

 

Dallas Woodburn, 22, is the author of two award-winning collections of short stories and a forthcoming novel. Her fiction has been nominated for a Pushcart Prize and her nonfiction has appeared in Family Circle, Writer’s Digest, The Los Angeles Times, and eight Chicken Soup for the Soul books. She is the founder of Write On! For Literacy, an organization that encourages young people to discover confidence, joy, self-expression and connection through reading and writing. This summer, her new publishing company Write On! Books is releasing its first anthology of stories, essays and poetry written by more than sixty kids and teens from across the U.S. and even abroad.
