Pat Sloan: Free patterns from my guests Heather Jones and a quick and cute project from the American Patchwork Archives!
The love of the story behind a quilt maker is something Linzee McCray and I share. As a freelance writer, she regularly writes articles for American Patchwork & Quiltings' family of magazines and also writes for other companies like Moda, and the Etsy blog. Linzee's book 'Art Quilts of the MidWest' are stories from quiltmakers about how their surroundings have influenced them. You might be surprised!
I am forever fascinated by quilts that are more realistic. Taking a photo and recreating it in cloth with fabric choices is a really fun process. Sue Rasmussen's work is diverse and amazing. I asked her to join me to talk about making quilts from photos. That is just one of the many things Sue does! So she will giv us the insider tips on this technique.. yeah!
I have had the great pleasure of meeting my friend Heather Jones years when I interviewed her. Over the years Heather has inspired me with her writing, with her quilts and with enthusiasm for making. Heather and I are going to talk about her first book called 'Quilt Local' that has 40 projects inspired by every day. And we'll chat about color and quilting your own quilts!
