American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 294 Karlee Porter

Karlee Porter is an artist that paints with a needle and thread. Her award winning quilts, such as Shimmering Symphony are seen in shows across the country and you might have watched her videos or been lucky enough to take a class with her. I asked Karlee to talk with me about the type of quilting designs she does called Graffiti quilting. It think it's a very freeing way to learn to freemotion without having the structure other designs require.

American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 294 Brenda Wolfensberger

The love a vintage machine might live in every quilter. Brenda Wolfensberger and her husband James took that love further and created an amazing documentary on vintage machines called Still Stitching. What I love is that is a really comprehensive documentary about the passion for vintage sewing machines told through interviews with eight collectors and restoration specialists. These people bring the love of old machines to life when they share their insight and personal stories about the vintage sewing machines.

American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 294 Roseann Kermes

Sometimes it's GREAT to learn new things!  Roseann was telling how she recently took a workshop, and it was fun to be learning something new! As a regularl contributor to American Patchwork & Quilting family of magazines as well as a teacher and shop owner who hosts retreats and events, she is usually the one doing the teaching.  We both talk with a lot of quilters and realize not everyone has taken a class. Today we'll explore what it's all about!
