Lisa Horlander and her guest Laura Davidson share studio tips and talk about being a part of The Cedars Union in Dallas!
Laura is an artist and educator, passionate about making art accessible to all. Pushing the boundaries of art media to divert waste items from landfills, she creates objects from recycled paper pulp and repurposed fabric for fiber works and installations. Shapes and textures in her work are influenced by an interest in objects' fragility and natural processes of decomposition and destruction.
She graduated from Austin College in Sherman, TX in 2012, majoring in Visual Art focused in 3D works and installation. From 2013-2021, Laura taught elementary and high school art in Dallas while writing curriculum and development for art teachers. She currently teaches middle school art in Euless for Oil & Cotton.
She has held studio spaces at The Platform and Sunset Art Studios. She is currently part of Cohort 3 studio artists at The Cedars Union Arts Incubator in Dallas.
