“In the second paragraph of the Shema prayer that Jews say every day, in the morning and at night, it talks about if you don’t follow God’s way, the earth won’t bring forth the crops and the rains at the proper times. I think theologically, people became uncomfortable with that. In some communities, more liberal communities, they might not say that at all or they might say it quietly. I want to scream that out loud and say ‘Hey look, our actions are undermining the predictability of the seasons and the rains.’ Let’s step back into the ecological wisdom that exist in our own tradition.” – Moshe Kornfeld
