Vision is so much more than eyesight. The emphasis of pediatrician screenings and most routine eye exams is simply on whether or not a child can see clearly when they’re looking at a chart 20 feet away and whether or not the eyes are healthy. Those are critically important but there is so much more to vision when it comes to learning and the demands of the classroom environment that unless you are checking those other areas of vision, then you’re not sure whether or not your child is equipped to handle the classroom demands. What we want to try to communicate is that the first thing that we need to be looking for when it comes to visual processing beyond eyesight is ‘How well is your child doing at taking in the information through vision?’– Dr. Dan Press
