Building Wealth and Health: Early Financial Planning and Achieving Work-Life Balance with Dr. Richard Laudon (Episode #106)

Dr. Richard LaudonDr. Lynn Hellerstein of Vision Beyond Sight speaks with Dr. Richard Laudon, retired behavioral optometrist, to talk about financial planning and finding proper balance with work and family. Rich inspires us to take charge of our finances despite the initial doubts, challenges and mistakes. Eventually we will gain wisdom and even meet the right person to help in our journey, just as what happened to him with Dr. Pat Pirotte. Together they now teach programs about financial independence in professional conferences. Wealth-building has four components (money, compounding, time and strategy), and everyone, even the younger generation, should take advantage of them and start as early as possible. Ultimately, we all should aim for that work-life balance by spending on healthy habits and experiences that fulfill us and with the people we love.

“Basically, there are 4 components of wealth-building and 3 of them are free, that means you and your audience have those components available at this moment. One component is not free and that’s money. But the other three are free. One is compounding. Einstein supposedly said it’s the seventh wonder of the world. The other is time. That’s time in the market, not timing the market. You can’t time the market. If you’re in the market for a minimum of 10 years, you will be in the plus column. The third element that is not free is having a strategy or a plan. That plan is something that will change over time, but basically you need a plan and you need to stay with the plan.” – Dr. Richard Laudon
