American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 333 Floyd Quilt Guild

When I learned about the ‘Love’ quilt that the Floyd Quilt Guild, of Floyd VA, created I had to know more. The VA tourism board has used ‘Love’ many ways over the years from VA is for lovers to the new “LOVE’ with a heart logo. Many of the rest stops have giant letters in front. Being that I live in VA this makes it even more special to see this amazing quilt and hear it's story. Sallie McCauley and Gwen Goepel were the organizers of having the quilt made, I love hearing the story!

American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 333 Kitty Wilkin

I’m a big fan of Kitty Wilkin’s work. She writes at Night Quilter about her own patterns, but also about quilt making she encounters along the way. She shares tutorials and this year is doing a ‘Year of Stitches’.. which is hand embroidery. I really love the idea of a ‘year of’ something and can’t wait to learn more!

American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 321 Linda Pumphrey

The very first batting that I sought to ‘purchase again’ was Mountain Mist. I loved that the company has a rich history and that the batting was so nice to work with. When I started my business I contacted Mountain Mist and Linda Pumphrey and her staff were who I worked with. Linda is now with Mountain Mist again as the Senior Account Executive. She brings her experiences of working on the board of museums and with other companies back to Mountain Mist. She is also the author of the Mountain Mist Historical Quilt book. We are going to learn all about the quilt patterns that are a signature component of the company.

American Patchwork Quilting Pocast episode 321 Tula Pink

I bought some of Tula Pink’s first fabric line was Full Moon Forest, the first with free spirit fabrics was Parisville and I bought that too… now 21 lines later is Tabby Road about to come out. What I found is that not only was her fabric interesting and detailed with images woven in, but there is also a story. For each Line Tula creates an entire universe of stories to bring all the prints into life. If you have a chance to hear her talk about how she creates, go! She is also an author and of course designs quilts to showcase her fabric.  Today we are going to talk fabric, of course, but also about other things she does including giving back to the industry we both love so much. Tula’s on for the second half of the show so we have time to really chat!

Buy Tula's Books, and Fabric ... including great scrap bundles!

American Patchwork and Quilting Pocast guest Linzee McCray Aug 2015

As a freelance writer, she regularly writes articles for American Patchwork & Quiltings' family of magazines and also writes for other companies like Moda, and the Etsy blog.  Linzee's book 'Art Quilts of the MidWest' are stories from quiltmakers about how their surroundings have influenced them. You might be surprised!

American Patchwork and Quilting Pocast guests Suzanne Marshall March 2015

When I was falling in love with applique, some of the specatcular and unique quilts that I loved at shows were made by Suzanne Marshall. I loved reading her inspirations and the magazines had articles about her work, she was ground breaking as her quilts looked very traditional, but really were not. Step up and you'd find bugs in that Baltimore looking block or a fantastical display of blooms that were not from a real flower, this is why I was drawn to her work. She makes things from her heart. I finally get to chat quilts and techniques with Suzanne, it's going to be so fun!
