Let's face it, life can get messy. But if life has no mess, it's just flat. Have you ever reached in the fridge for a can of soda, only to have it slip from your hands and hit the floor with a thud? Craving that soda, you very slowly and carefully lift the tab, trying to avoid the mess of it spewing all over the place. But then NOTHING happens? No mess, no spew, and certainly no fizz. It's completely flat. Sigh. You drink it anyway.
There are times when life goes flat. It loses its vitality, zest and enthusiasm. We may feel as if we've lost our purpose, our path, and confidence in ourselves and even in others.
What to do? "Give all your worries and cares to God, for he cares about you" (1 Peter 5:7).
We'll be talking about living a more "carbonated" life this week on GirlfriendIt Radio with author, speaker, orthopedic therapist, and tennis addict, Debora M. Coty. The subtitle of her latest book, Too Loved to Be Lost, is "discovering God's intentional, unconditional, without-limits love."
We also will hear from our Bloom Partner Michelle Parker, church planter of SummitLIFE in Sedona, AZ, with her husband David.
Quick Strategies while you are waiting for the show:
- Recognize that it's truly darkest before the dawn. You have to get lost to find your way. Be thankful you are not in the desert. Well, Lisa and I are geographically, but you know what we mean.
- Put on your Faith-Cap. Start praying for creativity and a miracle. Unclog your brain-drain.
- Make a Smile-List and force yourself to write down 25 things you CAN do to improve your situation. They might not work. But they will definitely start leading to something that will work. Now you at least have a direction to go, which means you are no longer "LOST".
- Deadline: Give yourself a closing date. Seriously. Wallow away for an hour or two, muse and marinate on the "whatever", then acknowledge all that is ‘not-lost', recognize and read through your smile list.
God gifted you with an incredible life and has a fabulous (not flat) path for you to follow!
