Lisa Cypers Kamen launches Harvesting Happiness Talk Radio with guests Kelly Wallace, Associate Director of Marketing, and Erin Wholey, Director of Special Events at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, MA, and Tom DesFosses, brain cancer survivor and patient at BIDMC.
Kelly and Erin work in the Office of Development at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center (BIDMC) in Boston. The focus of their work is to raise critical funds for the hospital, and this is accomplished through education, stewardship, and inspiration. Grateful Nation is a vehicle for giving at BIDMC; the events, stories, and sweepstakes created encourage patients, staff, friends, and family to give back in a number of ways.
Tom recounts his story and journey from his first knowledge of his disease through his difficult battle to recovery. As one who is deeply grateful to the doctors, staff, and specialists at BIDMC, Tom knew he needed to find a way to not only say thank you, but to bring awareness and financial support for brain cancer care and research at the Medical Center. As part of the organization Grateful Nation, Tom and his wife Judy founded “A Reason To Ride” annual bike-a-thon in 2008. This year’s event, held in September, surpassed their goal and has generated more than $89,000 to date.
Grateful Nation brings together patients, families, friends and staff of Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center of Boston to support the quality care and groundbreaking research at the Medical Center. Through new and traditional media, members of Grateful Nation share experiences, thank our caregivers and researchers, participate in sweepstakes, and gather to sponsor and host events and much more.
Being grateful inspires others to be grateful as well. Isn’t it time we jump start some perpetual gratitude? Have a grateful day! Visit Grateful Nation online at www.gratefulnation.org.
