Giving service to others is not only good for the recipient, but it is also heartwarming for the giver. When you feel like you are at your lowest point, nothing can lift you up like giving service to others. Our guest this week does just that. He is a regular fixture around Walter Reed and Bethesda hospitals. He is one of the first persons to see the wounded and give them the strength they need in the overwhelming situation they find themselves in. Some have had a limb amputated, while others are suffering from traumatic brain injuries. He is a welcome visitor of the soldiers and gives support to all in need.
Bob Nilsson is a Graduate of Dartmouth College. Bob has more than 40 years in the Construction Industry in more than 35 countries with Turner Construction. He has earned the honor of 2008 ENR (Engineering News-Record) Top 25 Newsmaker, and he was also in the USMC from 1959-1967, Company Commander Viet Nam 1966- 67. His calling is to give back to the military and thank them for their service.
He helped develop e-commerce-trading company, "Industry to Industry" for Development, Engineering, and Construction sector, and assisted Turner Construction with creating the new Amputee Center at Walter Reed. Bob works with wounded soldiers at Walter Reed and Bethesda NNMC. He is a resource and a friend to amputees and those with traumatic brain injuries who arrive at the hospital, as well as their families. He is a passionate man who goes to great lengths to assist them in cutting through red tape, helping them find jobs, and assisting with money for schooling, by starting his own scholarship.
