John LaRosa is President of Successful Office Skills, a Human Resources consultancy whose primary function is Training and Development; occasionally, he conducts employment searches.
Before becoming an independent business consultant, John spent more than 20 years of his career with The New York Times. At the newspaper he held various administrative, marketing and managerial positions in Advertising, Manufacturing and Employee Relations.
As a member of the Advertising Department, he sold classified advertising using direct mail and telemarketing techniques.
While serving in Manufacturing, he was responsible for managing the production of daily and Sunday papers. This responsibility also included intense negotiations with various union representatives.
And in his Employee Relations assignment, he had responsibility for Employment, Employee Benefits and Training.
He began his independent consulting work in 1981 by conducting various communications, supervisory and managerial public seminars through Control Data's Institute for Management Training. In recent years, John has been presenting in-house, Professional Development seminars to business, industry and government both in the U.S. and Canada. Moreover, he has done executive coaching for employees selected for such by his clients and for individuals who have sought him out on their own.
Course Titles he has developed and presented are: Effective Writing, Effective Presentations, Speed Learning, Quality Customer Care, Sales and Marketing, Management Skills, Time Management, and Professional Image Training. He has worked effectively in the support, managerial and marketing disciplines.
