Arla DeField was this week's guest on Success Profiles Radio. She is the author of the e-book "Mastering The Art Of Saying NO Without Feeling Guilty", in which she talks about strategies and tips we can all use to reduce commitments that don't drive us to our own goals. Nathan W Morris was this week's guest on Success Profiles Radio, and he is the author of the new book "The Art of Getting Money". The book is an excellent discussion of the wealth and success principles of PT Barnum, who was one of the most successful entrepreneurs of the late 19th century and early 20th century. We discussed the difference between income and equity. Most people think of wealth in terms of how much money they make, whereas wealthy people think of building equity in businesses and systems that automate business for them. More importantly, wealthy think in terms of time more than they think of money. Rich people spend money to save time, while poor people spend time to save money. Derek Reid, who is a Life Coach and Health/Fitness expert was my special guest on Success Profiles Radio this week. We discussed how he survived a head-on car crash, slipped into a coma, and less than a year later found himself serving in a miltary conflict while still dealing with untreated PTSD. Comedy veteran Tony Vivich was my guest this week on Success Profiles Radio. My guest this week was Jay Platt, “Mr. Unstoppable”, who is a former Marine Corps Drill Instructor, a cancer survivor, and an accomplished adventure athlete. As a professional speaker, author, and coach, Jay has inspired thousands of people to take their performance to the next level and beyond. He is the author of “No Matter What! How To Be Unstoppable, Despite The Obstacles, Starting Today” and is the subject of the new documentary film, “Living Unstoppable.” In 1998, he was retired from the Marine Corps, as a Gunnery Sergeant, after a rare form of cancer attacked his eyes, brain, spine, and kidneys. Refusing to quit, he rebuilt himself and became an adventure athlete; raising hundreds of thousands of dollars for charities, doing things that will make your head spin. Jay is also the only person is history to swim across the Mississippi River while handcuffed, shackled, and blindfolded, which he did last Veteran's Day to raise money for Wounded Warriors. He has also hiked the Appalachian Trail and also swam from Alcatraz Island to San Francisco with his hands and ankles tied. This show was an amazing testament to a man who has overcome greatly and has dedicated his life to raising money for charity by doing unique athletic challenges. This week's guest was Joel D Canfield, author of the book "You Don't Want A Job." We talked about how having a job is perhaps the riskiest career decision we will ever make. Topics discussed included lack of loyalty in the workplace, the ability to schedule your own time, and choosing your clientele. We also talked about how being technically competent in something does NOT make us qualified to run a business in that area. There are learnable skills that are required to run a successful business. We also talked about his publishing and writing career in terms of choosing to self-publish instead of finding a big publisher. Several notable differences included creative freedom, and the speed at which your book can reach the marketplace when you publish independently. Joel also published 6 books simultaneously last year on 11.11.11, and we talked about the "why" and "how" he did that. Finally, we talked about what it takes to finally write and get our own book published. Everyone has a book inside them, all that is needed at first is to decide to do it.

My guest was John Petri, who is an expert in stress management, stress relief, and the field of Alphabiotics. Unresolved stress is perhaps the greatest cause of many problems we face today. It affects our health, relationships, finances, and so much more. We discussed how Alphabiotics focuses on balancing the brain hemispheres to achieve greater balance in the body and thereby reduce stress. This is different from chiropractic (bones/joints) and massage (muscle). This week's guest was Greg Schwem, who has built a successful career as a stand-up comedian in the corporate world. We discussed how he got started, and how he cultivated his clientele. We also talked about how to balance a great career with family life. Greg's book "Text Me If You're Breathing" takes a humorous look at raising kids in a generation that is more technologically savvy than we are as adults. In this show, I spoke to Shane Belceto, who is launching his book "Inspirational Quotes". We talked about how he proceeded with his book launch and how he located joint venture partners to help his efforts. We also talked about his coaching activities, especially his efforts to help businesses use Youtube more effectively in the marketplace. The most remarkable part of this is he has accomplished all of this while visually impaired. It simply proves that there are truly no excuses or obstacles that should stand in the way of success.

In this week's show I talked with Carol McManus, America's LinkedIn Lady. We discussed the circumstances which prompted her to start her own business, and how she used social media to help her coaching and consulting business grow. She became an expert in LinkedIn and now hosts her own internet radio show everyday on the RockStar Radio network called "The LinkedIn Lady." We also discussed how teens can learn to use social media responsibly as their choices have consequences far beyond school.
