Success Profiles Radio 08/05/19 show

Brenda Flores was this week's guest on Success Profiles Radio. She is a retired police sergeant who was one of the first female police canine trainers and handlers in the country. She also was a sketch artist while serving for 25 years in the police force. She is now a novelist drawing upon her extensive police work, as well as her interest in science fiction.

We discussed misconceptions that people have about law enforcement and how this career path has changed for women over the years. We also talked about her work with domestic voilence victims and strategies women can use to protect themselves.

In addition, we talked about training police dogs for their work, and how her first sketch of a criminal led to his arrest and conviction for the crime. We also discussed why so many cops quit their jobs and the challenges of recruiting new people to this field.

Finally, we discussed her new novel, the parallels between her book and current real-world events, as well as her literary heroes. We discussed much more on the show.
