Girlfriendit: Experiencing God - Blackaby and Bloom

"Apart from Him we can do nothing of eternal importance." John 15:5

Have you ever had a moment where you realized you were a lot older than you felt you were? You know, when it dawns on you that the hours add up to days and then suddenly decades? It becomes crystal clear how each day truly does matter, and the only one who is going to have to answer for where you spent your time... is YOU.  Bummer, huh? You can't blame your brother, you can't blame your sister, you can't even blame your parents.

After one such "Mortal Moment", when I (Patty) recognized that I was indeed a grown-up, I decided to start reading Experiencing God by Henry Blackaby, a bible study that had been collecting dust on my nightstand since my sister Cathy had given it to me six months before.

I'd been a follower of Christ since I was eight years old, so I was surprised and rattled by my inability to answer questions like, "Where do you see God moving in your life?" I kept thinking, "Is my relationship with God so inactive that I can't see where He is moving to join with Him?" Page after page, I left blanks where I should have been scribbling "God sightings".

When I finished (except for all those blanks), I was determined to see where God was moving. I began praying . . . begging to join Him. My prayer life changed drastically, and with that, I went on a roller coaster ride with God that was over and beyond what I ever thought, dreamt, or imagined. (I can't wait to share more about this on the show tomorrow!!)

God was piercing my heart and asking me to join Him, not for the work that I could perform, but for the adventure of doing it with HIM.
