The real deal concerning the Duggers tonight at 7PM EST 6-8-15

I became interested in the Duggar family years ago. I remember watching one of their shows in which Mrs. Duggar went shopping.  She took several of the older children with her. They had a system that greatly impressed me. After shopping, they put the groceries away in their food pantry. The pantry reminded me of being at my Granny's (Foster Mother) home. I loved looking into the pantry and seeing all the canned goods stacked neatly. It gave me a sense of security. I also appreciated the fact that the Duggar children were homeschooled and seemed wholesome and well adjusted. I watched in amazement, their story and I wondered if they were Christians. I was truly glad to learn that they are Christians.

The attack against the Duggar family is troubling. The accusations of hypocrisy, the belief that some hold that they should have revealed their families traumatic experience to the world when it happened or prior to accepting the offer to do the show 19 Kids and Counting and the 're-victimization of all of those who were affected by their struggle.

While the attack is troubling. It is also encouraging because the attack sheds more light on the prevalence of sexual abuse and the trauma it causes. The encouraging part of all this is, this family faced this problem head on. They did not deny it and hide it like most people do.  Reportedly, Josh confessed his issue to his parents. They exposed it to those who could help them. They got counseling. They reported it to the proper authorities. Most of all they prayed together, cried together and sought the Lord for help. The traumatic experience of sexual abuse infiltrating their family is a reality that many face.

We are not critical of the Diggers in any way. We are grateful to see their transparency, how God mended them individually and as a family and their willingness to be persecuted for righteousness sake.

All things work together for good to those that love the Lord, to those that are called according to his purpose.

If their season with TLC is over, that's ok. To every thing their is a season. I for one am anxious to see how God uses this "scandal" for his glory.
